Alpha Nirvana 39w 8ohm Class A Amp

You gave me the motivation to connect my Alpha Nirvana up to my new planar tweeter and 7in woofer speakers that I just got done building. Up to now I had only tested it with a class D. Turning the Class A back on brings back some great sounds - smooth and elegant.

Makes me remember why I live the sound of Class A amps so much. 🙂

Wow! this thing has got some impressive bottom end punch, I mean on my test speaker it goes really deep. Can't wait to have the second channel up!

There's still a lot of work to do but it's coming along!

Great work so far DO!
I wish I had your skills to perform such amplifier assembly.🙄

I also wish I will have the chance to have a listen to this class A amp someday once finished 🙂

Hey Fab! 🙂

You will definitely have a chance to listen to it. We'll just reserve a day on a weekend! We can also listen to the USSA 5.2 and 7 on that same day!

Ciao!

Hi X & Vunce,

A quick question: "Are the Noctua fans you used on your projects the NF-A12 4 pin PWM, or, the NF-F12 4 pin PWM type.

The A12 is their universal flagship fan used for all purpose's of cooling, and the F12 is more suited for heatsinks & radiators. A12 is more$, but maybe worth it.

Any suggestions to above are welcome.

Regards,

MM

I always use the 4 pin PWM ones. Size varies but 9cm, 10cm, 12cm all work. Depends on your cpu cooler size. The larger ones are quieter. I typically use 9cm or 12cm.

Use the $2 to $4 PWM controllers from AliExpress or eBay.

They all look like this, for example:

US $2.00 | 1PCS DC 12V 5A PWM PC CPU Fan Temperature Control Speed Controller Board Speed Controller Temperature Probe Buzzle
1PCS DC 12V 5A PWM PC CPU Fan Temperature Control Speed Controller Board Speed Controller Temperature Probe Buzzle|Integrated Circuits| - AliExpress

Hi Myles,

I use the Noctua NF-A9 PWM fan with the Dell FD841 and U016F cpu coolers. 92mm is a perfect fit for them.
The pwm fan control board that X mentioned works very well. You can find North American-based sellers on eBay so you don’t have to wait so long from China, the trade off is it’s a few dollars more money.
