Metal core PCB is an aluminum substrate instead of fiberglass. It is covered with a dielectric and then a copper trace layer. It can only be used with SMT. Advantage is good heat dissipation and would be useful if you wanted to tweak to use as a preamp/headphone amp. The through hole version will have TO220 parts which can be fitted with a local heat sink so that is a good option too.

No, MB is one version. That’s the beauty of JP’s modular design - you can swap different core amp “engine” boards. The TH can be fitted with heat sinks and biased at 80mA to 100mA at 24v for a headphone amp. Same is true of metal core board, but that board can use SMT and not external heatsink and run at high bias and 24v for headphone amp. Finally there is the possibility of 100v supply (changing all caps to be rated, a few resistor changes, and LTP switch to MMB5401) and get 90vpp output.

Looks like we are at about 22 Motherbords now, and about 14x2=28 TH daughterboards, and about 9x2=18 SMT daughterboards. Right now it is still ambiguous which daughter boards Algar Emi, Redarc12, and CFT want. Please confim choice.

Via PM, I know of at least 4 more MB's and SMT daughterboards.

No one is interested in the metal core daughterboards?

X,please keep in mind that is very difficult to solder (using solder iron)on the metal core daughterboards

Or just bias it at 80mA to 100mA for preamp.....That would be fun 😀
