I tried the composite video with the usb cable on my LILLIPUT and it is real crap, the video cable is not even shielded, but with the VGA cable the screen is crystal clear.Like ACE said ,the VGA input is very important.
Ok guys a couple of shots of the pyramid, i had a few things come up so its not finnished, i just have to cut and shape the secondary condenser and make another 4 angles, but yeah not much work in it. As u can see in the first pic how shinny the mylar on the inside realy is, its like mirror.

here is a shot of the inside, as u can see the flash is eficiently reflected back at the cam, that is what we want, i put a roll of tape in the middle of the pyramid, but yeah too bright to see it lol, the way the payramid is designed with the step is so the light can only go one way, also it has more surfaces to reflect off, instead of just 4 we now have 8, with the roll of tape in the middle this adds upto about 12 - 16 reflections of that roll of tape, this is because of the angles of light reflecting off of all the surfaces in so manny different directions, i have tried it out without the secondary condenser and its brighter forsure.

Ace - On a different note, I have a question about anlges of images. How high off the ground does projector sit? If it was on top of a small coffee table for example, you obviously can't just angle the projector up otherwise you'd end up with the top of the image being wider than the bottom.
This is one of the biggest unknowns I'm finding with any design DIYP I see and no-one mentions anything about it. Am I missing something that everyone already knows?

bulb just turned on, the surounding area look's pitch black, there is actually a 100w light on in the room when i took this with the cam, the cam's auto exsposure turned right down as the pyramid is reflecting so much light even when bulb has been on no more then 5sec's.

heh, this is what happends when u put a digi cam nearly in a frensels focal path while the light is on, bad for the cam i know lol as u can see the cmos wasnt very happy at all, im sure if the cam had of been inline with the focal the image would have been totally black and a dead cam, too much light for such a sensitive component not to mention your eyes, with that being said i didnt look through the veiw finder of the cam when i took this pic lol, unlike crusers buddy who tried to look at the sun with a frensel lol, sorry cruser just had to throw that in.

U can correct this, its called keystone corection, u can either use a frensel that tilts or do it with a computer card that suports this feature, ie nividia, with a keystone correction via the computer's vid card its know as a digital keystone, u can loose some resolution from using this but with mine being a wide screen the projector would have the be sitting on the floor before id loose noticable amounts of reso as the sides arnt as high as a 4:3 ratio lcd.
Trev
So how do you handle that problem with your projector then? Do you not worry about keystone correction and just place your projector on top of a high chair when using it where the image that is projected straight ahead is at an acceptable height on the wall/screen (eg. A metre higher than the floor)
Oops - sorry. Should have read you post fully instead of skim read before I posted that last reply 🙄
hey ace
pardon the dorky question but you have painted many of your components what seems like a matt black.
What are the characteristics of this paint (thermal resistant etc) and the reasoning behind its application.
bye the way the project is coming on real nice - how are you doing for parts - as you know many of us are waiting on these.

heya Johnny, the main reason im using matt black is so light isnt reflected where we dont want it to go, not only that but it also helps to absorb heat into components that will be cooled via a fan so we are not only eliminating light where we dont want it to go but also heat.
The parts im waiting for are reflectors and the ohp frensel, ive contacted the company today and they are looking into it, it seems to have been either lost or stolen, its very unusual for them to take this long, its been 3 weeks on a package that should have taken only 4-5days, i have the condensers in just waiting for this other package so i can finnish up this testing and finalise everything for the plans, maybe then i can finnish this model off once and for all and get these parts out to you guys, but yeah its being a big pain on my end of the deal aswell.

Heh after my last post i recieved the telegram saying the package is at the post office, about bloody time, oh well atleast the reflectors are in now lol

Ok here is a small warning if your going to be fooling with the lilliput or with the same hitachi lcd, the lcd in its holder is offset, the frensel must poject through the center, this means that light is in the center of reflector, light in the center of condenser, light in the center of frensel , light in the center of lcd and light in the center of projection lens, all centers must follow through, if one of these are out one side will be out of focus to the other, orrrrrr one side of the image will be brighter then the other, the side thats out on the lilliput is the flex cable side, its out by 2mm so a fix for this can be done in 2 ways, either u cut the frensel offset from center 2mm more one way then the other and offset all of the light gear to match the frensel ( a pain in the *** if u ask me lol ) or u can off set the lcd, im going to offset my lcd, its far easier and faster, anyway i just thought id bring this up for the guys who didnt realise.
