Frost King Weather foam. If you look closely its not one continuous strip of foam around the perimeter but foam cut into smaller strips to leave gaps inbetween so that some sound can pass freely at the edges. This will make it sound a bit more airy. Not saying that you cant use one continuous strip around the whole perimeter its just personal preference. This technique was done by Bertagni. What damping is included in the panel or perimeter?
On the panel its glue/water mixture and paint. The more glue in the mixture and or the more coats of paint will have more damping factors while less is the opposite. The amount of damping used is personal preference.

I've used that too (Frost King). You may even have suggested it to me! My only problem with it is that the thickness tends not to be uniform. But as I recall it was pretty good at damping, plus it is inexpensive and readily available.Frost King Weather foam. I'm late to this thread and don't have the time to read back through all the posts. So what is your panel material? Is it canvas?Speaking of hands on, I just finished painting some new panels today.
These are unfinished panels there are no exciters on it yet.
You mean the other way around, yours look like theirs more or less. 🙂If you look at the shape of my panels, Goebels, Mescalito/Sheet control and even Bertagni they all have very similar shapes which is a short rectangle. Food for thought. 😊
You are guessing right again! 🙂I noticed that too about the perforations. I don't know exactly what to think of the first picture, where there are no apparent perforations. In fact, it doesn't really even look like end grain balsa. I wonder if that is just a "staged" video clip that didn't use an actual or fully prepared panel for some silly reason. As if they decided they wanted to include a shot of that only after the rest of the video was prepared, and they didn't have any of the right panels handy, so they "faked" it.
There's no reason I can think of that the black spots would be on the fiberglass.
I also don't think the grain direction is different. It's just a bit of balsa thats different in color. Those balsa panels are made of an array of balsa pieces that are perhaps 50mm x75mm glued together on the edges, and not "strips". I don't know for sure, but I suspect they take a bunch of balsa boards that are, say 50mm x75mm x 600mm(?) with the grain running in the long direction. Then they glue them together on the short sides to make a big block and then slice the block into thin panels. That's my best guess anyway.
Eric
They surely have faked it. At first I thought the film is printed like that, but the the holes are regular from edge to edge.
If I find a perforated cardboard or something, I'll try that. The film looked like Mylar.
Ah ok I get what you are saying , yes mine looks like theirs for a reason. You mean the other way around, yours look like theirs more or less. 🙂

Maybe, you'd like to post some pictures? Or, some sketches? What is the panel material?Frost King Weather foam. I'm sure I read these lines, quite sometime ago. 🙂On the panel its glue/water mixture and paint. The more glue in the mixture and or the more coats of paint will have more damping factors while less is the opposite. The amount of damping used is personal preference.
I guess you are not paying attention as I've mentioned many many times before that the material I use which is also Spedges favorite is EPS.Maybe, you'd like to post some pictures? Or, some sketches? What is the panel material?

I'm going back to read the first 30-40 pages in this thread.

It was quite sometime ago.😉 Also on many other forums like P.E. Techtalk. At least on P.E. I can speak more freely then this forum and not have to walk on eggshells. 😎Oh, I pay attention what people write or say. You just suggested where to look at those "many many times"... 🙂

There is no one called Audiofrenzy at that time. So, @spedge was right? It was quite sometime ago.😉 Also on many other forums like P.E. Techtalk. At least on P.E. I can speak more freely then this forum and not have to walk on eggshells. 😎
I have no idea what you are talking about? 😛🤣 Spedge is the one that actually pays attention.😉There is no one called Audiofrenzy at that time. So, @spedge was right?
Spedge is not always right but he is the sharpest tool in this shed. 😎
I also know Spedge from the other forum with Ziggy.
Thanks. I can find Tesa here. Is that one double sided? I mean self-adhesive on both sides?I’m using an insulation foam from tesa. I’ve tried many different foam and rubber. This is the one that works best.
Im using all around the edge no gaps.

Sure, @spedge is the sharpest here, and he was right! 🙂Spedge is not always right but he is the sharpest tool in this shed. 😎

Veleric mentioned "I've used that too (Frost King). You may even have suggested it to me!" That reminded me, who was writing about Frost King Weather foam in the early days here.
What are the other tapes you used, so not to buy them?I’m using an insulation foam from tesa. I’ve tried many different foam and rubber. This is the one that works best.
