What are the pros and cons of the SF3.1 vs SB3.1 pre-amps?
I have only built the BJT version so can't compare directly by experience. The BJT version sounds very nice - transparent lime nothing is there. I think JFET version offers higher input impedance and possibly even lower noise performance.
They are simple P2P capable preamps so grynit ot in veroboard and see what you like.
Is it possible to include some kind of summary info for each design? For example: design goals, power supply requirements, output power, input impedance, input type (balanced/single-ended), topology summary, relative build cost/difficulty, etc?
As someone who's never built a discrete amp, and who also lacks the ability to discern much info from the schematic, I have the problem of not knowing where to start. Why might I choose over the other?
Thanks!

Hi Matt,
That info would have to come from Apex or via reading the main thread. It's too much for me to add myself. One idea is to make a Wiki where anyone can edit. For now,
I would recommend as an easy project guaranteed to work is the FH9 Sonal layout. FX8 Bimo mod by Prasi is also a sure thing and sounds great.

Hello xrk,
Your FH9 is very interesting!
From which aliexpress seller do you buy IRFP 240 and 9240?
Regards
Alain.

Hello everyone!
Apex I reviewed almost every subject, but from AX9 not find anything. How much power is required? How many watts gives 8ohm?
Thanks in advance!
I use google translate, sorry!

Thank you, Stewin. Unfortunately, I have not been able to keep up with posting updates as they roll off of Apex's brain faster than I can type. 🙂

Hello,
Does any one have gerbers for Apex A40?
Thanks.
I have A40 gerbers..... 😉
Burnmaster,
Very nice! Sounds fantastic - what speakers are those? I have been considering repurposing my old Yamaha receiver cabinet for a DIY amp. Did you run into any issue converting the Fischer cabinet? That cannot be the stock toroidal trafo. You have some serious amount of caps in there 😀

The speakers are Maranz LD300
I've changed almost everything, and only the high frequency and midrange frequencies are the original type.
I have replaced the bass speakers, changed the bassreflexes, upholstered with mineral wadding.
In their present form, the sound bodies play much better than their original version.
The case in which I mounted Apex very well coincided with its requirements.
Sufficiently compact and beautiful enough.
I suppose the A40 could be installed in any standard box.
The toroidal transform is factory. It is pulled by another amplifier.
About capacitors ......
You know what Winnie Pooh has said.🙂
I'm doing the utmost, with respect to the peaks in the music.
I like the sound of Apex very much, as it is very close to the sound of the circuit I like the most.

????????????? ???? ?????? High-End ?? ???????????? (80??)
Here you can see it almost built, and for the project I used a box of Technics.
Of all the amplifiers I've heard, be it factory or handmade, this one works best.
Fantastic sound.

In the meantime I built a sound card to avoid cables, connectors, and so on.
The sound card is CREATIVE X-FI HD - USB.
The next video is visible after the procedure.

Since I do not speak English, I have used Google Translator for the above.
I hope you can understand me.
Greetings to all!
Sergey.
I wonder if I have said something bad or funny to my English.
No one spoke about the Russian scheme.
I would like to see some of your projects, but I can hardly navigate the site.

Just watched your video P2604... which amplifier is that? Sounds very nice. Nothing wrong with what you said except too much info and we are not sure what the question is.
If you want to see projects you should look at the main Alex thread 100w ultimate fidelity amplifier. It's huge but that's the fun.
That's the point of this thread is to give an index for that thread.
Another very interesting thread is this one:
Very simple quasi complimentary MOSFET amplifier
Try building that amp - sounds fantastic.

I would be obliged if anybody shares .lay or gerber files of apex b500 tef and SR200 with me.
thanks
thanks
