Hi, i try to convert the 10F/225 in cm but sometimes it gives me very accurate size as 41,91cm etc... so i can take 42 cm or 41.9.
my question is what is the tolerance when building it ?
have a nice day!

Nice, i was afraid by piece of wood with 0.1mm precision !!
alaways with this project, i've read for you the best assocition was the Alpha Nirvana amp.
i have probalby to move on another forum for this subject but how do you do to conciliate your main front left and right speaker with the good amp for hifi listenning and the home theater environnement? is there a ingenius diy solution?

I don’t do home theater HiFi so not best person to answer.
One solution is to get an 8ch DSP and use something like JRiver and setup your 5.1 or 7.1 channels in its software. Connect your favorite amps to the DSP signal outputs.
A great amp for this speaker are some good 100w class AB designs on DIYA. More power and less heat. Choose one that is easy to build, fully supported, and sounds great.

moutik2,
X has a Class AB amp named the FH9HVX. It's a fairly easy build and drives the RS225 FAST TL very nicely.
You might consider looking it up.

Thank you Xrk971 and Zman01,
i'll have a look at those amplifier( I'm building an eurorack modular synthesizer since one year now so i can solder even smd components and i think it's now possible for me to try an amp if there is a BOM and little explications.)
for now i've just order the cone and i hope it's the good one here in europe

bye !

Hi,
speakers ordered with crossover components ! (i take the 10f/8424)
i'll see to cut the wood in the local market tomorow and i'll do with 18mm mdf (the marine plywood is very very expensive)

yes! thank you for your design and suggestions. I hope to complete it in one or two months. i'll take some photos .
I have stuffing in the closed end up to the woofer, then a small loose amount right at the top of the turn. The rest of the line is empty except for eggcrate foam lining. Adding 5x more stuffing at the top hairpin essentially killed the bass from the TL. So you can really adjust it exactly from 0 to max.
Hey XRK, I'm a bit lost as to where you're describing, do you mean like this? A being mildly dense, then changing the amount at B to tune bass?

Ignore the above, I figured it out lol. I've now built 1 speaker (still need to finish in poly/mount the XO) but got it fired up on my (mostly working) FH9HVX and it sounds truly phenomenal, so much detail with a punchy bass (made me realize a bunch of my playlist songs are mastered poorly lol)
Will very much enjoy having the second unit up and running, and to think that the project onset was a pair of C-notes...

Super wood working skills, AS8912! Glad it is sounding great so far. You listened to to without a XO? I like how you added the brace as part of the inner panel cutout.
Yes, tune at B and can also add some at bottom turn. Very loose there.
So, did you ever sort out what the problem on the FH9HVX was?

Thanks! It has the crossover, it's just resting on the foam vs actually mounted at the moment. The back brace is nice, it makes assembly easier, but I was concerned about the volume reduction but the speaker sounds so good I won't think about it. As far as stuffing is concerned I'm running with only some in A as the photo above shows, and nothing else haha. I love the power and clarity of the bass from this thing.
Not solved the FH9HVX, I think the likely path forward is purchasing another PCB and redoing, likely quicker/cheaper that way

Hi as8912,
Don’t worry about the volume - it’s not a big deal. The bass and midrange in the RS225 is really transformed and exceptional once put in a tapered TL line this. The reduction in compression and increased clarity is amazing. The stereo pair is even better. You will like it.

Hi as8912,
I could not tell from your photos but make sure that the small rear chamber for the 10F is sealed from the main TL volume. You don't want the woofer's pressure pushing on the small full range driver. Are you using foam core for your Dagger rear chamber?

Awesome, great to hear about the volume reassurance. The 10F chamber is sealed at the back (foam core cap to the dagger, and some sound damping material over the top, the cable is sealed too). It's a 5 sided foam core dagger as I saw that you suggested that shape a few times on this thread.
as8912,
That's a beautiful build you got there, congratulations. Hope you can complete the other speaker soon and can share your listening impressions with them in stereo.

Got the second unit built/finished in satin poly. Sounds really incredible as a full set, will wait a few days for everything to be broken in before summarizing listening impressions. I'll also update the CAD and post that as there's a couple of minor changes if I was to build them again. (if anyone is looking to use the CAD, you should be comfortable using a chisel/planar to properly tolerance the pieces to compensate for CNC inaccuracies)
as8912,
Good to know that you got "stereo" now. Congratulations on your successful build, and share some pics of them in your set up when you're ready.

Hi as8912,
Congrats on completion of your stereo 10F/RS225 TL’s! They sound amazing don’t they? The woofers do settle in a bit more with some play time but are pretty good out of the box. The 10F needs no break in time as it doesn’t move much.
Looking forward to seeing your new build in action.
