10F/8424 & RS225-8 FAST / WAW Ref Monitor

No, I meant the Usher drivers.

The cheapest is $100 (8935A). 8935A1 – USHER
and the more expensive ones are $150 (8955A). 8955A – USHER

Quite the price hike from $50 RS225.

Still, might be worth it.
They have a few tweeters, a mid, 11" and 15" bass woofers (that 15" is $400!)
Yes, I wish I had a friend travelling a lot and could lug around some drivers for me! :)

Luckily, the cheaper one models nicely in a vented enclosure... and even better in a MLTL.

Although, I wonder how much better the more expensive are... if any better...

i just got to know that the Allo Piano DAC 2.1 has very good builtin DSP core which would allow for upto 24db two way crossover. I will try this too along with passive. have anybody tried it here?
(please excuse me if i have missed any post, as its a pretty long thread)

I have used miniDSP and that worked well. What software will you use for the Allo DAC/DSP? Perhaps Jriver could work?

My Focusrite 2i4 has 4 outputs which could probably be configured to be any filter output for a 2 Way XO. Of course, one needs 4 channels of amps then.

Hi XRK,

I want to built these speakers, can you guide me with the internal dimensions and dimensions of dagger. Is the dagger Sealed?

Sadik

Thanks for your interest. The dimensions are given in the first paragraph of post #1. Dagger is sealed and alternative to making it out of wood or foam core is to use a sports field marker cone or pylon. The critical dimensions are that overall internal volume be about 24L and baffle width about 10in. You can play with the rest but will find height to end up around 18in. Best Dagger is made from 5 triangular panels.

It’s a very straightforward design. Just a Dagger within a box. Try to get center to center spacing as close as possible. You can make full range centered or slightly offset. Flush mount the drivers though as that reduces diffraction. Round over the edges if you can and add round over on backside of driver cutouts for air flow.

Oh curse the hop gods. I'd have realised that wasn't a cheese grater earlier if I hadn't had a beer or 2. Although..... Excellent buck/former idea!

Thanks a lot XRK :)

Hi X -

Quick question: the woofer zobel is 4.4uF and 470m Ohms? Seems like a huge resistance here. I haven't found much commentary on this zobel and its effectiveness. Also, I have assumed that R4 truly is as shown "intrinsic to L4." There is a much earlier listing of components that indicates an actual Dayton 1 Ohm resistor as R4.

I'm progressing with the 18mm BB cabinets, but I went with earlier external dimensions showing a baffle width of 11.5 in, height 15.75 in. Really different from the 2018 vintage box! Looks kind of fat and short in comparison. Looks better with offset tweeter/widerange.

I've experienced this confusion before in trying extract all the most current info from a very long development thread. Many changes large and small over 1420 posts.

Fun fact - after rejecting the orange safety cone dagger I've come around and ordered some dark red ones. I'm also thinking they'll help by using less baffle area than what I had planned in 1/4 ply.
