Hi Everyone,

BUG FIX

If a loudspeaker wizard chart had the sample marker line showing and a keyboard key other than a standard navigation key was pressed, in some cases depending upon the position of the marker line it would move one pixel to the left and the sample frequency would lower accordingly.

This has now been fixed. The marker line now only moves when a standard navigation key is pressed.

Well once again I'm on the new posts servers poop list. I get notifications about anything from diyaudio.com except Hornresp. Thought it was too quiet.

Thanks for the update David. I have been taking a stab at a few bandpass enclosures and a really large tapped horn. I'm rusty. Too many drivers getting designed, not enough enclosures.
 
Hello,

I am a beginner sound engineer, I need to calculate the horn for a compression tweeter in hornresp. I don't know how to do it correctly because the parameters of the rear resin for tweeters are not quite traditional and correct. My tweeter is Lavoce DF10.101L, I would be grateful for any help

Compression driver Lavoce DF10.101L has standard 1" exit, so you can use standard horn with 1" throat, like LaVoce HD 1004

HornResp software is dealing with low frequencies only.
You can model the effect of the driver with the throat as it will still be in the region that Hornresp is accurate. It will be a combination of throat diameter, angle of the throat and the overall length of your horn. For the lower output region of the compression driver a compression chamber will also have some of the greatest effects on the output coupling to the horn. All those parameters are critical within the region that Hornresp is still accurate. If you want to play around more, AkaBak will get you into the higher frequencies, but most of the time the critical region in horn coupling is in the midrange. Anything higher than 10k is going to be falling off rapidly due to the throat diameter. Hornresp will output an Akabak compatible file should you care to experiment.

Thank you for your reply, but I've gone through several variants of existing horns for this driver (including this one) and I don't like them, either with the resulting frequency response or the uniformity of the decay, and really good solutions are large in size. I'm looking for a compromise between size and good frequency response, so I decided to design a horn that will satisfy my needs myself
 
I am quite sure you can find some commercial horn that will satisfy all your needs. In the range of small horns, I have good results with P.Audio PH170, FaitalPro STH100 and Eighteen Sound HT120.
At the present stage, you can't possibly design better horn (no offense!) than existing commercial horns designed by experts. Further, it is far better to search for compression driver (and latter - horn) according to your requirements, than to search for a better horn for your existing driver. Lavoce DF10.101L driver belongs to family of the smallest compression drivers (1 inch voice coil), so the possible uses are limited. For which purpose do you need such small compression driver?

Hi GM,

It seems that your computer is not identifying the new downloaded files for some reason, and is resorting to opening the old ones instead.

Perhaps try searching for Hornresp.exe, delete all copies that you find, and then download Setup.exe again from http://www.hornresp.net/.

The Hornresp.exe file that Setup.exe contains is definitely the latest version, Product Number 5720-250216.

(I downloaded a copy myself, just to check).

Hi all,

HR can import an frd-file as "room gain" and therefore the phase is not relevant.
But it would be useful to be able to import an frd-file which contains baffle diffraction data which also contains the phase, example file attached.
In that case the phase should not be lost as it is important for further processing e.g. for an x-over.

So my question is, could "import room gain" be changed to something like "import general gain" which respects/incooperate also phase data if present?

I work in a company where I am trained and share my experience (you can learn more by looking at my thread), and I am currently revising existing loudspeakers, and the speaker with this driver is loaded with its own milled MDF horn, and the measurements showed that it is not good enough. This is an installation loudspeaker that needs to be small in size. There is a commercial horn, the B&C ME10, which would be a good solution, but it is expensive for such a speaker system. I'll attach the measurements of our horn and the ME10 off-axis in 10 degree increments
