I plan to use a 600W switching power supply in the same case, not a linear power supply.
What makes you feel an SMPS will be a good PS for the AN? Compared to, say, the 'SLB' which was designed specifically for it?
@Yurid I used two MEANWELL LRS-350-24 (trimmed to 27V). I replaced the noisy Meanwell fans with silent Noctua NF-A9 FLX 92mm.
@jacques antoine Considering that you have two separate power supplies for the positive arm and the negative arm, did you use any protection? I mean, what will happen if one of the power supplies fails?
@Yurid There is a uPC1237-based delay and DC protect board visible between the two SMPS.
I use the same in all my amps and it effectively protected my speakers from single rail failure in another build.

@andyr My AN is ecquiped with modded SMPS and it works perfect.
I can well understand that, yes, it "works" - ie. makes a sound.
But for "perfect" ... I suggest you need to do a direct comparison with an SLB-equipped AN. 🙂
Also SLB boards are not available for order now.
Aah, OK. If you can get hold of the circuit ... you can always use 3mm teflon sheet as the "board" - and make up your own.
Good joke.😁Aah, OK. If you can get hold of the circuit ... you can always use 3mm teflon sheet as the "board" - and make up your own.
@andyr My JLH1969 was originally built with a linear power supply, but I later changed it to an SMPS and it still sounds great.
That's a good test! 👍
Good joke.😁
Why is it a 'joke'? The teflon sheet holds the components in place ... and you do point-to-point soldering on the other side. Being teflon ... the sheet doesn't melt. Works very well.
Here's a dual 24v PS I built for my Naim 12s (heavily modified!) preamp:
I have an M2X on SMPS and it sounds great, granted no comparisons yet to a good old fashioned set up, but I doubt it would be a vast amount better. Maybe if using say Tombos R21/R25 regulators then maybe so. But it's all conjecture isn't it without A/B tests.
Suffice to say I was very pleasantly surprised how good an SMPS can sound. And also not all SMPS are born equal!

I believe that a good high quality SMPS can easily compete with a linear power supply.I have an M2X on SMPS and it sounds great, granted no comparisons yet to a good old fashioned set up, but I doubt it would be a vast amount better.
