That's because the PSU is the limiting factor here, not the power amps.I once thought about attaching additional cooling fins on the outside of the plate, but in the end didn't bother.
I am not quite sure what the limiting part is.
Could be either the transformer or just the low amount of capacitance.
In their datasheets they state that it's heat related.
Hi all
I recently came across a pair of PSC2.400 at a nice price. I always seem to have more than one project dragging out at a time, so I picked them up.
I’m having a somewhat similar issue that I encountered with one of my FA502 amps when I was setting those up.
HFD won’t recognize that either of the PSC2.400 are connected to my computer at all. I can’t change any settings or do any programming…dead in the water.
As I said, I had previously had an issue with one of my FA502. But I believe that it was just related to the fact that HFD couldn’t identify the specific model amp being programmed. I was able to change its settings and program it if I recall correctly. I ended up reaching out to Hypex and they sent me a file of some sort to fix the issue.
I was trying to change the PSC2.400 settings so they are not bridged (previous owner used them this way) so each amp module can be sound checked separately. I would have also reset the filters etc…maybe just set a high pass at 30Hz to get a signal through all the modules and do a sound test.
Any idea why HFD won’t recognize these amps when I plug them in and turn them on?
I have HFD version 4.981 installed on an older HP laptop running Windows 7 Home Premium which I have used successfully with the other pair of Hypex amps I own (FA502).
Windows installs drivers successfully when I connect and power on both PSC2.400 amps. I confirmed that the amp is listed in Devices and that it is functioning properly according to Windows.
I did some Google…Troels Gravesen had a “how to” page relating to these amps. He said don’t plug them into the computer until after they are powered up and HFD is running.
I tried powering the amp on with the USB cable disconnected…starting HFD prior to connecting the USB cable.
It makes no difference, HFD doesn’t display any information about the amp or allow me to access and change any settings.
I’m not sure if I need to try updating HFD to version 5.0?…or if this problem requires other action.
The seller told me that both of these PSC2.400 have the latest firmware installed. I was glad to hear that, I had a problem with another unit I tried to buy locking up after I updated firmware.
I decided to just hook them up to a test speaker in bridged configuration to see if I could get sound. They both worked. However it sounds like the gain is really dialed back.
I attached some screen shots showing HFD and what I see in Windows under devices.
Any help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated.
I’ve submitted a helpdesk request to Hypex. I’m not sure what kind of support they might offer me on an older used unit like this.

Disregard…figured it out
Tried an old version of HFD.
Got a prompt that there was a newer version of HFD available on install. Updates listed stated legacy support for PSC was discontinued for version 5.0…evidently the same applies for the 4.98 version I was running.
Managed to get 4.97 installed and working with the older amps.

I am a happy user of two fa 123 plates with preset 1 or 2, but when I switch to preset 3 there is silence from speakers. Preset 3 contains filters very close to those in preset 2, so I am not sure why this issue happens. Firmware is 1.50. Please advice.

I tried many times. The same issue. Presets 1 and 2 work fine, preset 3 silence. Please ensure that the program was uploaded into the correct preset. Try uploading it again.
Try uploading the same program into all 3 presets... ?
When you switch to preset 3, are you using the physical button on the amp, or are you using a remote, or are you using the HFD software while connected to a PC? When you do switch to preset 3, does the LED light for P3 become illuminated?

Thank you for all sugestions:
It seems that change to preset 3 the spdif input is not detected. If I force HFD to spdif input it plays the sound through loudspeaker as should be.
Any advice how to make spdif recognition more rubust? HFD version 1.5
Other answers:
1. I tried to upload the same program to all 3 presets, switching to preset 3 failed
2. Switching to preset 3 I peform by using remote or HFD software
3. Yes, LED P3 is green upon switching to Preset 3.

You could try to swap input channels during preset 3. Sometimes it is put on the wrong input
I have a situation where the fusion amps analog inputs are connected to an analog mixers output. When the mixer is over 7-8 over 10, hypex inputs are overloaded and I start hearing an intermittent clicking sound. I know there is a way by soldering a jumper to have more gain at the input but what if we need less? I can not just say leave the volume at 7 because there are many different dj’s coming to play and they will surely play louder. The solution must be at the hypex and not the mixer.
The speakers are two way and the tops are horns. The tops are at -16db and the Bass/mid section is at 0db.
Any recommendations?

Hi,
what does it mean in Firmware 1.51 on FA 123 „ ATTACK „ or „ RELEASE „ . What ate the original values?
I have only upgrade to 1.51 an my values are ATTACK : 83,3 msec and RELEASE: 99,9 msec ??? I never changed that by myself.

Check an XLR or RCA attenuator if you don't want to solder resistors. For example:I have a situation where the fusion amps analog inputs are connected to an analog mixers output. The part may not work in a mixer/ amp situation, as it is for microfone impedance. Check data sheet before buying. If your mixer does full level without distortion, it is best to attenuate before the amp. You get less unwanted noise that way. S/N ratio.
Make a scetch of your gain structure from source to amp, then you should see how to get it right. Sometimes PA stuff is work you have to do your self... no one can see from a forum what you have got there and how you set anything up.

A XLR attenuator is the right thing in your case. Not sure where to get one for line level but this one looks pretty simple to modify if needed: https://www.amazon.de/Dämpfungsglied-Adapter-15db-Preis-jede-silber/dp/B0091GXWEA?th=1
It also dampens noise from the mixer - double benefit.

Has someone changed fan to a more silent model to FA502? Thinking about Noctua NF-A12x25 model, but is it compatible? Some picture tells me that there is a 2-pin wire so no PWM.
These fans are temperature controlled and mine never spin during operation. (Subwoofer for Surround but bad air flow around them).
How do you use your module?

2 wire connection did not prevent PWM control of fan speed. Generally 3-rd wire on PC fans is used for fan error detection and 4-th wire is used for actual speed feedback.Has someone changed fan to a more silent model to FA502? A Noctua NF-A9 FLX, 92mm fits perfect only you needs to modify the fan plug.
These fan is voltage controlled the FA502 is that also with 2 pins.
Remove the yellow wire plug with a Iron saw or fein tool or so and put the plug with the exact collors in te fan outlet from te FA amp.
The FA amp itself needs no mods the yellow wire is to see the fan speed the FA amp dont use that.
With the yellow wire pin the plug dont fit in de fan header, the plug is to big.
The plug Will fit but is upside doen when plugged in to match the wire collors.
I now have airco in my room therefore the FA502 amp Will spin way less and didnt do the mod for now.
