Does anyone know if the smaller than 5xx models could be retrofitted with a fan with heat-controlled features? I'm concerned about running a pair of FA25x in a rather hot environment. To be safe I thought that I could add a fan and use the Vaux of main SMPS to power them (should be powered only when main power is on, not on standby) and maybe add a little switch for on/off in between. But do the plates actually have the same features that run fans in 5xx series, just don't have the fans?
The digital input board of multi-way models has the fan header, I saw it today in an FA123. The dsp board manual states that it is indeed a 3 pin (only 2 pins are connected ) fan header and outputs 12 V. The fan is temperature controlled, but I don't know how. Since the fan header has only 12 V and GND I assume it controls fan speed by varying voltage. I probably need to open a support ticket to confirm, plugging in an incompatible fan could spell trouble.
@bexi did the FA502 fan mod today, i removed the yellow line pin on the Noctua fan conector otherwise it doesnt fit.
And plug it in with the wire collors the same like the old fan has.
Used also the Noctua NF-A9 FLX 92mm fan fits perfect.
