Pearl 3 Burning Amp 2023

This is my first time ever dealing with an RIAA phono preamp. I had no clue how sensitive they are. When tapping gently on the input wire made an audible tapping in my speakers (sounds like when you tap on diaphragm of a stethoscope), I then began to understand how truly sensitive they are.

I guess in an ideal world we should use metal blanking plates for XLR holes and also perhaps covering up the cooling grate with fine steel mesh on top and bottom plate. Could help eliminate noise paths as those are certainly openings in chassis?

Are the Nuetrik XLR blank plates metal? I made some 3D printed plates, but obviously not gonna help with EMI.
Ok, I took a gander, they look like metal, but are actually a very hard type of synthetic material.
They look fine, but even if metal I don't know how much EMI they would stop....or maybe they stop it all, mine is pretty silent. 😶

The more that I ponder the more that I suspect it is a system wide interaction, unless I am one of a a couple of people using a P3 and AJzm. As I tried to write previously, the Naim gear is particularly susceptible to inductive issues, I've experienced them first hand, but turning off the Naim and right back on has always cured it. In this situation that did nothing, it was turning off the Aleph that cured the problem.

Being a

That should be a pair that sang beautifully! I know that I have an OM20 kicking around, but seem to recall having some other Ortofons.
I've had that Super OM 30 for a long time, but recently hooked it up and it was dead. While removing the little clips, one of the rear pins was loose. Somewhere online I found Super OM 5 brand new for 79 bucks. I bought it just for the body and put the OM30 stylus on it. Back in business. Seems to sound best lowering the tail a touch via VTA. I had the OM 20 prior to that. I forget the difference, I think OM 30 is microline type stylus. The body's are the same. Never tried the OM 40. The OM 30 stylus is available, but a touch north of 300.

I have a "regular" aleph J, no probs. I have all the stuff for new AlephJ, spare the chassis, which is one of the special order PASS DIY deals and won't be shipping for a minute. I will try once built!

They are, though I did try the Pearl in a wall outlet instead of all components into my Audioquest Niagara 3000, same either way.
