Pearl 3 Burning Amp 2023

Nobody knew CPR; nobody had home Defibrillators; yet we survived - both of the above audio hazards.

Regarding the LEDs there are two large transparent in my kit which lights up green when I test it.
Then there are two smaller red LEDs for the output circuit bias. I assume that the large transparent LEDs are meant as power indicator LEDs?
At least I placed it there on PCB as I don't like to look into a LED when playing music so I won't have it in front panel.

@LJT - blue/cyan is one I will always put in build docs because Pass Labs traditionally uses blue. And as best as I can tell Nelson bought a few million LEDs that are a light shade of blue that isn’t currently on the market. Believe me, I have tried to find a match to my D1 Dac and a factory FW F3. I found a Cyan that I like. It is close enough for me.

So feel free to pick any color you like. Or try a color changing LED if you’re feeling particularly wild.

Wait.... I have a sea of blue facing me... until you finally went cyan... thank god. As I recall. Tim "Wild Man" Rawson, ever the outlier, used red!

I find the Pass Blue to be a little thin on the bass, the cyan you chose has better upper bass resolution!

but, the light changing LED was discombobulating ... We figure the amp smoke was due to the power supply....

"Dad it's red now... What? Wait, no, now it's blue!"

Meanwhile, slick, wet thick smoke wafted up. You haven't lived until you've had smoke, or flames or big caps blow up in front of you.

Yeah, the technicolor power supply LED was... a surprise.. ;-)

If I sound more weird than usual... no listening at all for the week. We are doing construction and our contractor gives me a day's notice when someone else is gonna show up. There's no way to do op-rolling or listening when you got a guy doing dry wall in the room next door.

Exactly this.

😎

What cartridge are you using nowadays?

I'm being pushed towards getting an Ortofon Cadenza Black.. but that's pricey. They were running a deal lately if you had a spare cartridge you could "trade" in... but it's pricey any way you look at it.

I might have to sell something to finance it.

-In the meantime, the dry wall guy is making noises all over the house. >😛

Has anyone tried an optical cartridge (DS Audio) or the strain gauge cartridge (Soundsmith)?
