Know OTL tube amplifiers ? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Output_transformerlessYou could argue that an SIT is better than a power triode. Low-ish output impedance which means that you do not require an audio output transformer. You can make push-pull DC-coupled output stages with SITs.
Yes I know of OTL tube amps. Many tubes in parallel. Fairly exotic. Futterman, etc.Know OTL tube amplifiers ? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Output_transformerless
If you want really exotic tube, how about Hill Plasmatronics?

Futterman amp design is very old school, today Diyers can build something contemporaryYes I know of OTL tube amps. Many tubes in parallel. Fairly exotic. Futterman, etc.

Tube amplifiers without output transformers sound different 😉

Depends. A 2A3 is certainly more linear than all SITs I am aware of. However, the tube needs a transformer to drive a loudspeaker, and some (most) SITs will provide more power than a 2A3.So SIT are that good that you’re able to compare them to a 2A3 ?
Triode tube amps have their strengths and weaknesses and as do SIT amps. Some people will prefer triode tube amps and some people will prefer SIT amps.
How the tube or SIT is used in an amp will have a big effect on the sound. It took me a several builds before I decided on my favorite implementation of a SIT in an amplifier. But that can be said for tubes too.

2A3 is powerful enough for my need, I often use the Darling Amp at 0.75 W output.
even better, then you don't need to mess with SITs
if building fun is what counts - build with Schades Mosfets
then , if you like what you hear, chase SITs for last ounce of possible performance

Perhaps you got lucky with a small window of availability. I just checked with seller at transistormosfet and they are currently out of stock.
I looked at this website. Their registration process is a bit funky and does not seem to work at all. No way to go forward and request a quote...
Jier you have to send them a fax copy of your business certificate to be registered first. I have no idea how legit they are and have no company to my name to try out.Their registration process is a bit funky

A fax. Really? I haven't seen one for at least 25 years. Also, what is the "Biz Certificates Number" they want from me? I tried to ask them by email, but I couldn't find their contact details. Fishy.
At the bottom of each site is a copyright dated back to 1999 (no comment...) and an icon to send an email
Hi,
Any news as when these very affordable SIT will become available? Transistormosfet is still out of stock. I’m still curious to hear such an amp...
Thanks
Eric
