They are 3D printed and held together by M6 threaded rod - I will share the STL here later. These are not my best prints, I had a half clogged nozzle and will need to print new ones. Also, they will be glued together and will need a bit of filler and sanding.
Both of my delta printers are waiting for spare parts... But I am thinking I should actually try a 9 driver line too (3s 3p connection)...once the printers are back to business, I will print some more. The easiest way to build the box would be cutting some pine planks of the correct width. The not so good prints I have now will be glued together soon and the construction from planks will be tested in small scale.
Oh, great thread, I love the 3FE22/3FE25! Best bang for buck driver around, at least in the UK.
I guess you have seen the TABAQ and mini-K projects, by Bjorn Johannesen and xrk971 respectively, on this forum? Both can be adapted to use this driver. I have built a couple pairs of TABAQs with them and I am happy with them by themselves as a full range system, although for sure they do not give booming bass (I think my neighbours are happy for this, though).
I also built a pair of FrugelHorn Lites, designed by planet10, with 3FE25s in them, and these speakers are seriously impressive. You would simply not believe that so much bass can come from two 3in drivers.
Yes, for metal and epic films in your man cave you probably want a sub, but I find either the TABAQs or the FH Lites sufficient in the low end for my tastes in classical, folk and bluegrass in my flat...

I have the folded TABAQ redrawn for 18 mm material and CNC cutting as well as the Karlsonator. Still somewhere on my to do list🙂
I think the banana sockets and 4.8 mm fastons could be in the package that was delivered today. That means the Hydra clone prototype could be potentially put together for testing in the weekend.

Nice, you'll like them. BTW, Bjorn did make a special TABAQ alignment for the 3FE22 for me, which I posted on the thread, slightly different dims than the original one, so make sure you use those dims...I used 15mm material and I have a special folding drawn up in SW, and have CNC'd the ones I have built. Yes, it is actually your plan that I used, just very slightly modified for the different thickness.
Frugel-Horn Lite was designed by Scott Lindgren. I did the drawings and Chris built the prototypes.FrugelHorn Lites, designed by planet10, with 3FE25s in them, and these speakers are seriously impressive. You would simply not believe that so much bass can come from two 3in drivers.
Any good 3” does the same in the bass with this horn.

Oops, sorry Dave and Scott. I remember now reading elsewhere in the forum how your three way team produces the designs.
I used the SSS for a while and I must say I really like it compared to standard Bluetooth boomboxes of similar size. It needs a bass box, but the stereo effect it produces is really worth the effort. It only needs to diffuse the front driver a bit. I listened to my band's recording while practicing for a gig and I really enjoyed it compared to the Bluetooth Jambox I am normally using. I am now considering to build an active SSS all-in-one tower box with the woofer built in. The 3FE22 works really well in this application.
Finally, I got my belt sander out and spent some 30 minutes with the Hydra clone and then one layer of matte spray lacquer. Still some sanding and two more layers to go. The dual box looks pretty good with some small exceptions. I have my deepest respect for @wesayso for building his arrays from (hand cut!) layers of plywood. My very small project will be most probably the last to use this technique (well, maybe except some Yuichi style horns in future). I fully understand the price charged for the original Hydra.
When writing the last post, I never thought I would say that, but I will build the second one to the pair. I only tested it for half a minute, I will need to listen more and make some measurements later, but it was definitely all worth the effort.
On a 3D printed stand🙂 I forgot to mention that they need a subwoofer/bass unit (I had one of my 40Hz bass horns connected). I always liked the Bose sat/sub with 4 dual cubes they had connected to a jukebox in my favourite bar (4 dual cubes and a sub). This is better. These seem to have a relatively wide sweet spot and due to the angled arrangement, the dreaded comb filtering cannot be heard by me.

Cool.. just wondering how do you listen to it? The second Hydra clone will be 3D printed. I had to cut it into more parts since the back does not fit my printer (FLSUN SR) in one piece. I am curious if there will be some objective difference - printed vs. plywood.
Yes please. I'm interested to try these. That looks like a useful part to have (hide that ugly 3fe22 surround) for many applications. Wonder if there's a way to make a grille? The driver mounting parts are printed. It is a pretty tight fit. Before release, I will update the model slightly.
