Connected or not connected, it doesn't matter as long as you have no actual signal present. Any signal would modulate the output voltage although even then, the effect would be minimal at normal levels.
When doing the DC Balance adjustments is it sufficient to just power the amp, or should there be speakers and/or source connected?
i personally use 2 prepared RCA connectors which are shorted from signal to GND (shield). this helps any amp to have a shorted input and then the noise measurements and setup is much easier.
you can do the same with XLR connectors.
as mooly wrote if you connect a source like DAC or CD player without signal its the same.

Just to clarify, could a pair of these be created by, say, cutting a sacrificial mono RCA cable, then, at each cut half, strip and join the conductors?
Thanks.

I'm thinking about getting the Amp camp amp, so my project is a two way MTM bi amp fully active , so I would need two stereo amps , the woofers are wired to 4ohm 94db sen , and the tweeter is wired to 4ohm 93.5db sen, and it's for a computer setup so I will be sitting very close , will the amp camp amp give me enough power , I don't want rock concert levels but around 80db or so.
Assuming your source has a high enough voltage, plenty. (I run 1 ACA with a pair of 88 dB sensitive speakers, unable to go beyound 60% attenuation…)

Agreed. That shouldn't be a problem. Sounds like a neat setup!

Amp Camp Amp not working.
Hi guys,
Unfortunately my worst nightmare has come true. I have built two amp camp amps. The first one I built works perfectly and sounds fantastic. I’ve just finished the second one and it.s not working. When I set it up as a single stereo amp, I get a faint distorted signal on one side when I turn the volume up high but that’s it.
I guess it’s time to start learning. Can any of you guys help me diagnose the problem? Any help appreciated.
Alex.

Ah OK will do. I’m a little embarrassed as my work isn’t as neat as the first one. Maybe that’s the problem!
Can you suggest somewhere I can host the pictures?

For some reason I thought they had to be hosted lol. Thanks. Pics on the way.
This is probably minor, but I'm not seeing the resistor on the LEDs, or the heat-shrink tubing. It almost looks like the right channel's LED line is shorting to the chassis.

Start with the basics.
Check the resistance between the red and black speaker terminals. It should be 500Ω to 1000Ω.
Check the resistance from the outer ring of the RCA inputs to the centre pin. It should be about 50kΩ.
Could you set the 'bias' to 12 volts?
Do both Q1 and Q2 get hot on both channels?
