As most of you here know here there are Many models of this amplifier on Aliexpress and elsewhere. Rather than hunting through all these posts(too many) here trying to find the model I need. My requirements are:
a. I need this amplifier to power my subwoofers in push pull mode, ie 2 channels powering 2 subs for one channel. SO I need 2 amps( 4 channels) for stereo mode.
b. so I need this amp with a high current and high power output.
Please recommend me a model or models in which I investigate further, additional mods by me is no problem. Also, recommend matching 48Vdc switching power supplies as well.
Many thanks.

Hi,
What about the JRC4580 vs OPA1656 ? I would be curious to get your opinion.

If you are looking for a 4 channels module, this one is the only one (apart from the 3E Audio) that supports Balanced and Unbalanced inputs.
But do not go over 45V for the PSU.

JRC4580 is the budget version of OPA1656, around 90% similar sounding. I'll put the TPA3251 on TICore260BTL (not sylph-d200). So kindly ignore post #212
Thks for reply, 2 separate boards are OK with me cos I am running in an active mode the 2 channels will be located close to the subwoofer, I will be running 2 subwoofers located separately. If you are looking for a 4 channels module, this one is the only one (apart from the 3E Audio) that supports Balanced and Unbalanced inputs.

Would be nice if the gain was switchable without soldering. 🙂Yes, the gain can be changed by changing resistor values (for split supply opamp buffer).

Hi JLester,
About the JRC4580, have you compared with the Muses 8920?

No haven't tried Muses 8920, lower your expectations on JRC4580, it has some weaknesses too.

SMT parts are only on the top side, so squeezing-in more parts is difficult. It's easy to solder/desolder since 4pcs resistors are on the edge of the PCB (beside the input terminals)
I have tried without pffb. Really dont like it. Will restore it !
Sylph-D200 is a different beast, For PFFB with 18K r_fb and 2K r_gnd, and unity gain buffers, I think it will get 98dB(worst case) to 104dB(best case) SINAD rating for 5W 4 ohms.
My Motu M4 is arriving this week, after I tested my amp, I will submit it for review (ETA 1 to 2 months) 🙂

Hi,
I bought a Sylph-D200 that is on its way to me.
I want to use a stepping potentiometer like this on from EIZZ.
What resistance should I use? 10KOhm, 25KOhm or 50KOhm?
My source is a CD Player with variable 2V / 50KOhm RCA output and a Mediaplayer/DAC. I don't know the impedance of the Mediaplayer/DAC.
I'm not sure if I will enable PFFB. But is it possible to solder a switch at the solder bridge, so I can easily switch PFFB on and off? Or is this a bad idea?
Thanks

"Push pull mode" refers to two sub drivers axially-aligned in one enclosure, for force cancellation? You could power each sub with one amp channel each, or you could wire the drivers together (depending on their nominal impedances - either in series or in parallel).Calling All Seasoned and Knowledgeable Users Of TPA3255.

Probably you have already thought about that and have some reason not to do so.

Sources should have a low impedance output, typically below 50 ohm or up to 600 ohm for DACs. Get a 10k potentiometer for Sylph-D200 inputs.
Don't add wires to enable/disable PFFB as it will increase the PFFB loop area and will result to decreased performance.
Default configuration is that PFFB is disabled. You can listen to it first so that you will have a baseline sound signature where you can compare it to your future mods / parts upgrades.
Thanks,
Lester

Ok, thanks for the advise. I won't connect any wires.
I'm a bit confused about the impedance. The service manual of my Sony CDP-X202ES states "Output Level 2 V (at 50 kOhm); Load impedance 50 kohms by fixed output and over 10kohm by variable output"Sources should have a low impedance output, typically below 50 ohm or up to 600 ohm for DACs. Get a 10k potentiometer for Sylph-D200 inputs.
Does it mean something different? Can I connect the cd player diretly to the Sylph-D200 with a 10k pot?

Line Out (Fixed) - means that the CD player will output 2V fixed on a 50K ohm load impedance. You can connect 10K ohms or higher load into it. (probably you will get less than 2V output on < 10K impedance load because it will become voltage divider.
Line Out (Variable) - means that you can control the volume on the line out. You need a buffer/preamp after this line out. Probably your cd player doesn't have a buffer on the output after the "variable" potentiometer.
Since you will be placing a separate (10K) potentiometer before Sylph-D200 input. You can to connect it to the "fixed" output of your CD player.
There it says that the "fixed" output can drive 10K load.
Anyway, your CD player can still drive the Sylph-D200 to full output since the input sensitivity of our module is 1Vrms (non-PFFB)

Lester

There are cheap dual supply LLC SMPS in aliexpress. I already tried the 1000W variant (dual 70V), this is good for subwoofer, for 2 ohms load get the dual 60V. 1000W 1500W 2000W 3000W SPMS PSU HIFI LLC Tech Soft Switch Mode Power Amplifier Power Supply Dual DC Output +-36 48 60 70 80V|Amplifier| - AliExpress
If your subwoofer is 2 to 4 ohms and 12" or higher I suggest go with IRS2092 based amp. No heat problems on high power output continuous usage.

There is a grounding mistake on V1A, V1B TICore260BTL versions so you need to do the capacitor ground fix.
Whats the value of this cap and circuit location?

I bought my Sylph-D200 that is on the way.
What are main tweaks to do?
I would to eliminate electrolytics coupling caps. Any suggestion?
I already own a preamp XCCS BOSOZ that works well with my actual 3e-audio in balanced mode, do you think is the best solution or maight be something better?
With opa or with opa bypassed?
Output caps?
Thanks
