Theres a great YT vid around, featuring a LMP1 class car, that has been delimited, that is to say it has had all LMP1 restrictions (mostly around safety) removed.
It holds the record (last time I looked) for a lap of the Nurburgring Norschleife, beating the previous record, held by a F1 car.
It's an interesting watch for those who enjoy racing, and personally those LMP cars always held car more technical fascination for me, than the current F1 classification.

I get really hacked off that no country seems to show much of the real Olympians - the Para Olympics.
But they do show it....the British athletes, at any rate.
Only a couple of months ago, the Olympians, or prospective ones, plus Paralympic athletes were competing, side-by-side, and it was 100% televised.
It was fantastic!
The hunger for competition, the veterans who would've been attending their last Olympics, and the youngsters, who due to world issues, missed their opportunity.
Personal bests and records broken, all night.

Can't agree that any country does more than lip service to the Para Olympics.
I've lived in the Netherlands/Spain and now France and only the Dutch showed a good representative of other countries athletes.
Spain and France are really xenophobic about sporting events. French sporting TV make both myself and my wife so angry that for the last 2 Olympics we just don't watch. The French jump from one event to another just showing French athletes so you never get to see a real representation of any event.
I love athletics and I don't give a damn from which country an athlete comes. I love living in France and the French way of life but this is one aspect of their culture that needs to be changed. I remember one year that an English club won the rugby European Championship and the French channel screening the event showed the French getting the runner-up medals and then they just cut to adverts and that was it, really, really bad sportsmanship. With the Chinese Olympics it was hilarious watching a French commentator referring to Beijing as Peking when behind him was an enormous sign saying Beijing.
Sadly sport is now big business and that is down to one country - the USA. Many Olympic events are shown at a time when big money is spent on advertising in the USA. Also sick and tired of companies pushing their brands on sporting clothing - ban the lot and events should take place at the optimum time for the needs of that event and screw the demands of big business.
If this means a lot less money for the Olympics good, then it will return to it's roots of pure sports as in ancient Greece. There are so many 'sports' included now that are nothing less than visual entertainment.
As for doping in sport, getting caught once should mean a lifetime ban. Cycling has an awful reputation and it started with amphetamines and has progressed with substances that are really difficult to detect.
There was a time when I could have got involved seriously with walking events but the price would have meant total dedication/obsession that is the price you have to pay these days if you want to succeed - no thank you - sport should be a part of life, I have no regrets and have enjoyed some wonderful walks across Europe.
Too often it is forgotten or played down the physical and sometimes mental problems that afflict athletes later in life because they have pushed their bodies too hard, prime examples being the terrible physical problems suffered by young female gymnasts from Eastern European countries in particular.
Keep politics (always a dirty business) and big money out of sport - look what has happened to football and now rugby - sport for the sake of sport.

There is no greater goalie than Bert Trautmann who finished the 1956 FA Cup Final playing with a noticeably broken neck.
Being a City fan from before I can remember, and I'm 65 now, I have to say that the man Trautmann took over from, Frank Swift, was probably the better keeper.
There's not much footage of him left, but certainly in my youth, talking to people who had watched both, the verdict was pretty well unanimous.
And this is certainly my favourite moment in sport.
And being there, I've got to say it was probably the most incredible and surreal moment of my life.

I think Sergio Aguero got a couple of lucky bounces off defenders there. But if I was a City fan, I would have enjoyed that.
My favourite player was Bobby Charlton of Manchester United. No hugging or kissing after a goal. He just looked like a guy who had scored before. Ran back to the halfway line.
When you score, you should look like you have done it before. We are, after all, professionals. 😀

Gillian Clark - The Voice of Badminton
Gillian Clark is often called 'The Voice of Badminton', known for her engaged and emotional way of commentating on matches. Her unique way certainly is an example of brilliancy in sports. See here for a 'best of' collection:

I used to play Brighouse Table Football at College. I played defense and goalie. I was never ashamed of this. I was lightening fast and whippy. Sometimes hit it so hard I'd score an own goal. Unluckily never got a partner who was similarly capable up front.
Ah well. Just my luck. We lost in the Finals 😡
There's two sorts of people. The quick and the dead. Badminton is a good game. It's quick. 😀

There were no bounces off defenders at all, a straight 1-2 with Ballotelli, round the defender (who actually missed his tackle and fouled Aguero), then straight into the net.
And in fairness it wasn't just a goal, it was the first title in 44 years. And as you mention it, Dzeko, who scored the equaliser a few minutes before did just that.
No celebration, and straight back to the centre circle.
Black Stuart,
You should search for the footage of the british athletic championships, shown a couple of months ago on UK TV.
Lip service indeed hahaha. You're mistaken, I fear.
The UK has the largest Paralympics training and sponsorship around (in my mind) and most of our (UK) athletic success is due to the Paralympians, rather than the able bodied.
We love the Para games.
(And of course, in these times, there simply isnt going to be internationals - but that has nothing to do with lip service, or any other depressingly defeatist attitudes, or beliefs.
We, are an outward looking people, who love our european neighbours, like brothers - and we believe our disabled, which are many, are capable of feats which ordinary folks would be beaten by)
To their health

Where to begin - you use the English flag and not the UK one that speaks volumes. It is very arrogant to use the word 'we' it is your opinion and there are many English as well as Scots, Welsh, Irish who do not share your opinion and often for very good reasons.
Have you ever lived in an another EU country? I have experienced living and working in 3 EU countries. How many languages do you speak?.I have found that the vast majority of English in Europe never bother to learn the language of the country they work and live in and rarely make real friends with the locals. We deliberately avoid contact with the English here in France because of their xenophobic attitudes, also most are working on the black. All our friends are French or French Algerian or from former French colonies.
Three things never to discuss with the English are exactly what you do talk about with the French - sex, politics and religion, the thought of having to come back to the not united kingdom is an awful thought.
Going to a rugby or football match is an emotional experience in France or Spain and it is not fuelled with alcohol.
To state that virtually all sport has become monetised is not depressing it's called reality. That football teams have virtually no players that are from the city or town they play for, there is an exception and that is Athletico Bilbao and the Euskadi are quite rightly proud of their long (40,000 years) history as the first modern European people.
Just how many hours of coverage do the Para Olympics have in the UK because here on the mainland it is virtually nothing.

I use the English flag, because I am English.
Would you deny the Catalan the use of their flag? Or the Scottishz Welsh, or Eire? What a sad jaded viewpoint.
But this subject is verboten, and not for discussion here.
Yes there are Neanderthal everywhere. Best to ignore them and not form opinions based upon your experience of cavemen.
I hope you find peace and can rise above this purile artitude
And yes...
I have live in Tilburg, Nederlands.
Dankje Well.
Bitter Schön
Merci Beacoup
English is my 1st language, et Français my deuxieme, Deutsch my 3rd, Mandarin my 4th. I am not fluent, but indeed have experienced the xenophobia with respect to des langues. I do not care, because, I know 'enough' to communicate for essentials.
English is the most spoken language, globally. Soon Mandarin will be. So I'm happy I have made the effort.

How do I add to my ignore list again?
I dont want to be part of another thread that becomes derailed and shut down, this was enjoyable light entertainment.

What do you mean by that? I'm living not too far away from Neanderthal Valley, and modern science says its former residents were much smarter than they appear. I might even carry some of their genetic code ... 😉Yes there are Neanderthal everywhere.
Honestly: this particular discussion started at the topic whether Paralympic athletes are recieving a fair share of media presence. This is a good topic and well worth to be discussed. But the direction it takes now, is it really necessary? And is it appropriate under the title of this thread?
A moment of magic

When nationalities are left aside, magic can happen: a Russian born and a French born athlete teaming up under the guidance of German coaches.
I'm certainly no expert in figure skating, but this is magic ...

I meant that there are plenty of those lacking in intelligence, or overflowing with prejudice, with archaic opinions.
I believe that mentality is not constructive.
It was not a comment on the geographical region. Why read context into a phrase, that is not intended?
Would you shoot another dead, so quickly?
it is highly unlikely that there are many folks alive that posses a large proportion of Neanderthal DNA, perhaps Cromagnon DNA...

I wholeheartedly agree with the sentiment ^
God almighty, my heart was in my mouth with a couple of the lands Aljona did. 😱
It's moved on since Torviill and Dean!

But as a hard-nosed judge they ever so slightly lost sync around the middle, IMO. 5.9.
That was Katerina Witt in the audience at the end, applauding, wasn't it?

Yes, that's right. I remember well when former German gold medal winner Marika Kilius was in the TV cabin commenting live on it, her voice cracking because she was touched so emotionally by the performance...That was Katerina Witt in the audience at the end, applauding, wasn't it?
