White (latex, not pink) pencil eraser taped to the top of the NuTube seems to be the best single thing to do to help the microphonics. Also taping the vent holes closed.

The NuTube seem to be wildly inconsistent in their propensity for ringing, some are pretty good, some are insanely bad. They all ring when you tap on the chassis though...

Pre-orders for the production run of the Korg Nutube B1 complete kit are now open.

If you have any questions about the pre-order process, kit composition, etc please ask them over in the store's B1K Pre-Order Q&A thread. The B1K pre-order status page will always be kept up to date with the latest news about the pre-order.

Emails to people who've signed up to be notified about this becoming available will start flowing out in a few hours.

Cheers :)

I must be lucky,no ringing at all.I can even thump the the case with my fist and no ringing.

Treat it like a turntable - I've got a sheet of acrylic under the metal base plate and another to replace the original lid so no air gaps and less ability for the metal case to resonate.

You could do the same with MDF or other dense non resonating material.

My system rack is made from two self assembly type box section steel coffee tables stacked and modified with spiked feet and filled with lead shot. You can tap the rack with screwdriver it doesn't ring at all.

I wanted to see the nutube so I have that mounted on a piece of acrylic on standoffs behind an acrylic (perspex) window. No ringing at all except maybe when I change sources - that means turning a beautiful Elma rotary switch. It's a great mechanical feel clicking from one source to another so I don't mind a momentary ring at that point.

So is it something in manufacturing that accounts for the ringing differences? Mine rings whenever I touch it, but stops relatively quickly—and even a dancing 9.5-yr-old in front of it won't make it ring—nor a hand clap or other environmental sounds... But if I tap the case I can get it to ring right quick. I used the included foam tape underneath—and will experiment with some of the ideas in this thread to see what works to null it further (want to try it with M2X and Cordell chip amp). Are there reports of these ringing in other non-B1K builds that use the NuTube? (P. Millet has a few Korg based designs for instance.)

Thanks. This looks like a fantastic project at an incredible price. I do need phono though. I see that there are some NP phono preamps. They look perhaps beyond my abilitities. Anyone have experience with the Pearl or Pearl 2? Also, there's a DIY guitar pedal kit using the NuTube and am thinking that by adding a small chip amp it might be possible to make a small, battery powered guitar amp with tube sound.

Hi All...
I have been looking at many many many beautiful pictures ;)
However what all have in common is the way the input and direct is wire up.
all have twisted wire, on the Input and direct are twisted together and again for the ground.
Why ?
If I had to use patch cable, I would have done it like, left channel, live and ground twisted together and likewise for the rest of the input for noise canceling. however I would have used screen cable in a heartbeat.
Maybe I over looked something ?
Thank-you for the picture, it makes it easier to get through all the reading when English isn't my prime language.

Regards Allan

Spending some quality time isolating with my Korg B1/Amp Camp Amp combo and some small full range speakers. Thanks Mike!
