Wayne's BA 2018 linestage

Russell, I had a touch too much hum on my build as well. This is with very efficient horn speakers and a cheap Ebay switcher. As I said in a previous post I just added some more capacitance after the switcher much as Nelson has done of some of his projects using a switcher and lowered my hum to an acceptable level. Why not give it a try first. Something in the neighborhood of 1500uf to 2200uf caps.

That doesn't look like a switcher?

going through all my parts, none this small. found some 680 poofers, I'm pretty sure I have some 100 poof caps but cant find. I better look at amazon or ebay for small quantity. What Am I looking for, ceramic or what? 50 volt, 100 volt or ?

I could have these in 10 days:

Jameco Valuepro MD10-VP-R Monolithic Radial Ceramic Capacitor, 10 pF Capacitance, 50V, Epoxy Dipped Case (Pack of 40): Amazon.com: Gateway

Thanks,

Russellc

I've received many PM from interested people for the PCBs. I have not yet responded to anybody.

Again, if you are interested I'm currently forming a list;

I have the last batch of the purple PCBs that Wayne had made. There are about 50 stereo sets. I will send a set to anybody interested if you pay shipping.

If interested send me a PM with -

Forum Name

Real name

email

post address.

They will fit in a standard envelope so I suspect shipping won't be all that much.

Even Nelson has said there is a lot of variances in Toroid's. Have you tried placing the toroid far away, outside the case, and see if you still have the hum? There is a member on this forum who had a bad hum on a M2 build. He spent a lot of time and money before moving the transformer outside the case. It was the toroid causing the hum.

I actually had it dead quiet. Then did the cap swap 6l6 noted. Killed a cap, should have replacements any day. Must have had a bad solder joint which surprised me....generally very careful, but there you have it! I mean there was no hum, stone dead quiet.
