There is kind of a conservative bunch here in this thread. They tend to be very wary of unproven claims, theories, etc. In the field of audio, there are many claims and theories made by non-experts that usually turn out to be wrong. While you may be an expert magnetics guy, this bunch will still have see for themselves whether you can significantly change expert thinking about loudspeaker design. Hope you don't give up first.

In a technology which requires multidisciplinary knowledge, I find too many cannot handle the multiple.
Speakers are one of those, as is motion control and superconducting magnets.
But surely, speakers are the most complex of them all..😱
The absolute worst case is when somebody with something to offer gives up.

No one is asking JN to 'give up'. Just to make sense of what he claims, AND actually prove the worth of something 'new'. E&M theory is fine, but it is not a complete answer to speaker problems, unless you study the loudspeaker in more detail. Include the rest of the speaker driver design. I am afraid that many here do not have the background for that as of yet. Read Klippel, Olson, and then let's talk.

In fact, I have mixed feelings reading your experts. Happy that I am better versed in some of the higher technical understandings than they are, and sad that I am better versed in some of the higher technical understandings than they are. I guess it was inevitable, but it is unnerving to realize.

It's all going well. Brood one over today and discovered they have more expensive tastes than I did at that age. so a big dent in my Tanqueray #10 and all the nice tonic water drunk.
I actually completed a project last week, albeit a small one which is the first since experiment 6 was born 18 months ago. 2019 will be a good year for Audio I am sure. I just wish I could get pulse audio to work on a laptop.
The pop arrangements of classical Asian instruments/music is excruciating to listen to and where are the cable lifters (so many opportunities here).
Did-you mean they play clarinet AND sing both with kazoos or in a room filled with helium ?
I know that it is difficult to get a decent recording from speakers (apart electric guitars or Leslie cabinets ;-) but, there is a limit ...

Fixing a cuckoo with a music player. It has a nylon gear that split, it was press fit and it failed in tension. Choices...do I simply buy a new regulator for 60 dollars, five spare gears for 49, or do I make an indexing fixture for the lathe cross slide to cut a new gear out of nylon or delrin??
Buying the parts would be soooo easy.

I might buy the five gears and store the spares inside. Otherwise I would have a gear made from metal. Why manufacturers use nylon and metal together beats me. That is the cause of many CD transports being write offs, and yet they repeat the same errors product after product.

Being able to cut iddy plastic gears is something I would like to be able to do. You can't get spares the way you used to and CD mechs are always stripping teeth.

CD players frequently lose nylon due to cracks and splits. Of course, when that strip of nylon is used to guide the head along with an azimuth adjusting screw on it as well ...

I complain about the yoot of today not learning the basics, so I have to learn how to cut the gears. That and it is also needed for the clock museum. Brass, plastic..it's all the same....give or take. It also lets me use use my stereoscope.

Chris: I have a Denon changer that requires relatively frequent adjustment. It's useful but the whole 3 tray mech is plastic and gets a bit messed up. But all the spares used to be available including the belts. Make do and mend seems to be a dying thing.
@TT, not sure what you have against Tina S. She learned classical guitar and decided to branch into metal. I'd have been very happy if one of my girls had decided that, even if the music was not to my taste. I rather like her heavy version of the moonlight sonata YouTube . I'm no guitarist but she appears to have some serious skills.

The nylon is apparently used for its self lubricating properties. An odd design, as it's a wheel driving a worm. I think if I used even leaded brass, the friction coefficient would not work even with synthetic oils.
