shaan, thanks for you advice. I live in a small place and my speakers 8Ohm but power rating must be quite low. Is there a way to run it as reduced power somehow? Like 12-0-12 maybe and get away with less VAs in the transformer? Noobs question I know.
It is possible to run the V4 with +/-12V but expect 4-5W at most (and possibly horrible sound quality).

In September I compared four channels of V4 with two having 2SK/J and the other two having ECX10N20/P20, the 125W rated ones. I couldn't tell much difference, except low bass seemed little better defined with the ECX, but the boards with ECX had Panasonic FM while the ones with 2S had Nippon Chemi-con SXE which could also have an effect on LF performance. However, the ECX pair needed less turns in VR3 to reach 100mA with same VAS bias in both cases.
Hence I would say there's not much difference in sonics between the two pairs to prefer one over another. You can use either that is available to you without losing anything in the sonics.
The 250W rated ECX pair that has just arrived is yet to be tested in the prototype of the next PeeCeeBee.
