Yeah similar concept. Great way to do things for high quality, and simple DIY. Look at the NC-400's for example. Very popular because anyone can build them and get a high quality result with minimal tools and experience.

Thanks! If I end up doing this I would stick to more traditional look. Like the Dynaudio Focus XD series, but with much better cabinets built with stacked baltic birch. First speaker would probably be a 2.5 way floorstander with dual 7" mid-woofers and dome tweeter. Similar to the Focus XD 30.

LOL this cracks me up, dynaudio has better build quality and quality control than pretty much everyone in the industry.

Yeah they build good speakers. But they are sold through a distributor/dealer network. On a $10000 retail speaker, Dynaudio probably gets $2500 of it. The Focus series are just standard 19mm MDF cabinets with veneer. Nowhere near as solid, and expensive to build as stacked baltic birch.

Just be careful with shielded cables - easy to create ground loops. I prefer unshielded to avoid galvanic connection.
