Nice pic, but kinda low resolution. Are P3 and P4 fully counter clockwise? I can't tell.

What's in Q5 and Q6 positions? Q5 (left position) is supposed to be P channel, so either 2SJ313 or FQP3P20. Q6 (right position) is supposed to be N channel, so either 2SK2013 or FQP3N30.

Are the Q5/6 metal tabs isolated from the heatsinks? Are the screws isolated? I know the heatsinks do not necessarily need to be isolated from the tabs, but what if your heatsink is touching something from the circuit?

Are you applying voltage with correct polarity? Describe your PSU and wiring.

Are the IRFP transistors in the correct positions?

Lastly, and currently also not relevant, are you using thermal paste for the transistors?

rodeodave, you are on to something here. Can you verify that Q5 is P channel and Q6 N channel? As i have followed below BOM were it says the oposite.

EDITORS NOTE: This has been resolved in the BOM two pages after this page. Sorry for the error!

Check this, I actually put down my drink, got up from the couch, lifted the top off the running amp and took pics:

Q5: J313
Q6: K2013

The pre-ordering of VFET batch 3 has now completed, and all variations and parts, including the supplemental kit, have now sold out. There won't be a public release or any leftovers. Everyone from every ordering group did have a chance to purchase, but those in the later groups had to be very quick when their email invitation came. Apologies to anyone who missed out.

We've learned a lot from this process, and will try to make future kit sales a bit less stressful, but we hope the way we ended up doing batch 3 did provide a reasonably fair way of distributing these kits in a first come, first served fashion.

There should be a lot of happy DIY'ers. Big thanks to Papa, Jason and Variac.

So what's next? DEF amp with more unobtainium from Papa's secret stash? :) :) :)

Cheers,
Dennis

Thanks again! Frankly, I was a bit surprised when in the mass email, it was mentioned that most who stated that they wanted to pre-order ended up not ordering (at least in the past). This certainly wasn't the case this time around!

Best,
Anand.
