Regarding Hypex I thought they started production in Holland and then moved factories to Slovakia and China.
I also don't think the EVM boards are that expensive. But they do serve another purpose than Hypex and Audiopower. That's why the pricing policy is quite different - they simply do not need to sell EVM boards for a living. I bet I could sell cheaper if I ordered 10.000 (sorry - I don't have that kind og money)

No, I only have it inside my Panasonic SAXR55, an I guess that is still prosumer stuff?
No - That is another chip, it was just to mention my only experience with Texas chips in professionally made consumer gear, and to ask if that also was below the EVM standard.
I know the very first Panasonics was made with EVM modules from TI, but I don't think that is the case with SAXR50 and newer.

TI EVM prices are not directly a function of cost. They seem to set a price that is high enough to discourage retail buyers and low enough for serious developers. EVMs for TPA3244, TPA3245, TPA3251 and TPA3255 are $249 each. EVMs for TPA3116, TPA3118 and TPA3130 are $149 each. EVMs for TAS5630 and TAS5624 are $399 each.
i think the high cost also reflects the extra work that go's into a evm after all this is not just a amp it is also a design tool to teach designer's/manufacturers about the different implementations of this chip granted the price is high however i would of thought the time and money saved in r and d are invaluable to any company who wish to be first to market

Performance between 1 and 10w is amazing. I wonder what they did - replace NE5532 with OPA1612 would be my first step. Probably a stumble?

I know the 5532 works well with high impedances (low output current) so that means shot noise? I haven't got any experience with OPA1612 or how to optimise for it. Haven't even read the datasheet...
MrMax - that's a low grade op amp right? Strange choice - maybe it's a subjective choice.
