Hi guys! Very interesting post !! Been reading 50-60 pages now.
Import limit in Denmark is 80DKK equal to 8.4GBP.
I've been trying to figure out which board from ebay has the best VFM ?
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
So I've been looking at these:
2*100W TPA3116 D2 Dual Channel Digital Audio Amplifier Board 12V-24V for Arduino | eBay
50Wx2 TPA3116D2 Official Version Finished Stereo Digital Power Amplifier Board | eBay
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DC-12V-24...Audio-Power-Amplifier-Board-Car-/131849477545
I have basic soldering skills, so I will prob. be changing caps and stuff.
Second. There are A LOT of TDA7498 boards also. I just figured 3116 was better?

A few more to consider (I have both)
TPA3116D2 Digital 2.0CH Class D 50W+50W Audio Power Amplifier Board 50W*2 | eBay
Assembled TPA3116 class D amplifier board 50W+50W (green pcb) | eBay
But I do prefer a TDA7498, suits my speakers (Mission 761) better, to me ears.

I have the Yuanjing black/blue, a TDA7498, Sure TPA3110 and a Dual chip tpa3116, and i like the Dual Chip the best
Does anyone know how to bypass the cheap (channel imbalance guaranteed) potentiometer on the dual chip pictured? i'll be using a preamp

Been reading feedback on Aliexpress, and without having heard any of these boards, Im tilting towards the dual chip 3116. I have a SMSL with TPA3118, and I really like the sound of that.

Easiest to leave it at full volume.
On the dual chip, the pot has an on/off function. Leaving it at 100% you get nasty pops. Might need some customisation or provision of a mute switch.
That's i'm doing right now, but i have some soldering skills and patience for a perhaps better solution 🙂
Oh, It has to be turned off by the potmeter :-(
My plan was using 2 of the dual chip boards (one for each bi-wire speaker) and then a spdif DAC. Then turn it on and off remotely. I bet that will make a pop!

I have the dual chip red 2x100w board...it sounds great, but I am getting lots of noise...it's very anoying. Anyone else having same problem?...idea how to fix it?

Power supply?
Power supply?
no...have same power supply with different boards and no noise. It's that old vintage ssssssssss noise.
Do this
It's a bit of a challenge if you are new to it, but what I did was replace the volume pot on my dual chip board with an outboard 10K one. It quieted all background noise. Be very careful not to ruin the board when desoldering the stock volume control.
You don't have to get anything real fancy...I like the ones from Parts Express which are dirt cheap.
To me, this made an unlistenable amp into a good amp.

Mark did you have the red board one, from ali/ebay?
Could anybody weigh in on the red board vs green board on page 929 ?

Yes, I use the same dual chip 3116 as shown in post #9282. Forgot to tell you that if you remove the stock volume pot you'll probably want to wire in a switch, as well, since the stock pot as you know has an on/off built in.
A little head scratching for sure. I'm sure I can help you out if you get confused. I probably wrote down how I did it.
People keep talking about turn on pop. I get none. I wonder if they are not using a power supply with enough amperage or trying to turn on the amp with the volume pot turned up...either of which is not to be done.

I will be turning the amp on and off with a USB rail, so the pot WILL be on. I'll figure out the pop part. Fixed that in my old Lepai with bigger caps.
Still the green PCB looks more interesting, but the red one looks simpler. Sometimes simple is good.......

Hi Guys, quick question anyone bought directly their 3116d2 from YJ???? I order bunch stuff week ago and no one is replying to emails kinda worried now 🙁
Try to see if both chips are in master configuration. With dual chips boards, one should be master and the other shave. I have a (different) board with that problem and corrected it.I have the dual chip red 2x100w board...it sounds great, but I am getting lots of noise...it's very anoying. See datasheet for further information (the schematic in there has that configuration, master-slave).
Red or green board? Can't decide!
none of these.
go for sanwu TPA3118 mono pbtl boards.
if you have 8 Ohm (6 Ohm) speakers you should try TDA8932 or TDA7498.

With this unmodified dual chip/Astron regulated psu and 6n3 Guanzo pre there is zero pop at turn on/off following this procedure.
I let the tube pre warm up, then power up Astron. Last I turn on and max dual chip volume control. To turn off I reverse the order. Lovely combination that brings tears to my eyes.
What wonderful and inexpensive audio times we live in.
