I added the cap and made some changes. I have etched a pair and will report back after I have had time to populate and test.
Terry, can you please share your Sprint file for your AX8?
Thanks...
Terry is the man when it comes to quick builds.
I usually have to wait to receive 3 boards from OSH Park along with some of the parts from Mouser.😱
Maybe I should get at least 10 values of each resistor from Tayda for pennies on the dollar.🙂
I am starting to use Aliexpress for all my resistors caps and transistors that I don't need in a hurry. Free shipping and typically pennies on the dollar. You can find almost any electronic part as long as 3 weeks shipping doesn't bother you. But this way stock up on 400 pieces of every resistor value and then all the typical transistors and caps. The have one sided copper FRP4 boards at 10 for $5 (7cm X 10cm) should be good for these amps. I am going to start etching mine too. Nice to make a PCB in an hour - perfect for impatient types like me.

I'm doing exactly the same thing. I have 3,000 components on order.

Here is is singing.
Sounds really good. I was surprised. I see 48mA on the rails and virtually 1mV across the emitter resistors yet I don't see or hear any crossover distortion. Runs fairly cool.
I also don't see any overshoot like on the FX8. Strange since they have the same front end. Clips right at 20vac / 8R so about 50W. Nice little amp.
Blessings, Terry
EDIT: I should point out that I installed SMD caps on the bottom side for most of the ceramic and film caps
Looks very clean. Nice🙂...Do you have the part number for the emitter resistor that you are using (looks to be compact compared to the regular square wirewounds).

Thank you for the tip. I have never tried Aliexpress for resistors and caps. I have tried them for several different op-amps and needless to say they were fakes.
Greetings mr. terry sir please can you share your ax10 amp files in pdf formate
Thank you.
Here you go.

Terry, can you do some A/B sound comparisons between the AX10 and the FX8 using your trusty ole' JBL monitors?
Thanks...

The 64 million dollar question!😉. I am betting on fx8. 😀

I hope so too because I have an order out for some boards on the FX8.
Although now I am reading up on how to make my own board in a few hours with a laser printer, hot iron, and some etchant. Even a 12 year old girl can do it... 😀

But you can use hydrogen peroxide (hair bleach) and muriatic acid (HCl) used for cleaning concrete rather than the ferrous chloride stuff.
Just need for my Aliexpress order of components to arrive... 🙂

The rate at which Mr. Mile comes up with new designs(new for us), I guess ordering PCB is a bit time consuming. Have a look at this too (produces very accurate results if you have materials and set-up).

Kindly excuse the off-topic...

I hope you right, I spent to much time on the layout of the FX8 to modify to feet my need..
I hope Terry`s feedback is accurate on these, of course musicality and other aspect has a lot to do with the final result.
Also different wine different taste - in audio mostly play a huge factor 🙂
I do post it here if someone interested, you have to use PAINT, print setup 45% and print for hot iron transfer..

I think FX8 is one of the best from Apexaudio, it has a good musicality. Very relaxing, no ear fatigue.
Please check ax11tef
Nice pcb, connection from base BC546 to 22k and 680R mosing, distance from outputs transistors can be equal...

Hi C08bm,
Very nice layout, except as pointed out by APEX and andrew.
I was wondering, if following could be useful to improve the layout.
1. thermal bonding of i/p pair.
2. decoupling cap between emitter resistors of o/p tranny (instead of before fuse), as I read it should be as close as possible and ground trace can run between the 10 res..
Also Mr. Mile can confirm if heat sink is required for MJE's

UF5408, MUR340... any over 3A and over 200V fast recovery diode.
I see. The driver emitters are 380mV so about 38mA.
Thanks, Terry
38mA + 8mA thru VAS + 2mA thru LTP = 48mA thru rail
