Tim, sometimes I have the same issue with the time wheel (el Capitan in both chrome and safari)

I'm loosing a connection to my external USB drive which is connected directly to Pi 2. Any suggestion will be appreciated.
# ls /mnt/USB
ls: cannot access /mnt/USB: Transport endpoint is not connected
Hi,
The only thing I can think of would be to try turning on "Max USB current 2X" setting in System config and see if that resolves the issue.

Hi Nick,Hi Tim,
I would also like to echo one of the bugs raised by Bootz:
4. When coming back to the "home" screen from settings or other screen most of the time the time circle has gone to circle heaven and the songtime and total time are written at the same spot. Refresh does help but that should be done automatically.
This actually happens nearly every time I navigate back to the playlist screen.
The circles disappear and in their spot you get 2 to 3 overlapping lines of text. I will try to screenshot it and post it.
Furthermore, it sometimes happens that when trying to scroll through the playlist, the volume gets changed, it's as if the whole screen acts as one giant volume wheel (this also happens with the song progress wheel)
And one odd behavior I have come across in TR2, that wasn't in TR1 is that when left idle, the client seems to disconnect from the server and I get the "reconnect" button in the center of the screen.
After reconnecting, the whole layout and functionality seems off, making it impossible to scroll through the playlist or change tracks.
I tried it on Chrome and Firefox (problem seems more common on Firefox), on an android tablet, an android phone and a win7 laptop.
Regards,
Nick
I'm not seeing the layout corruption thats being described in the last few posts so unless I'm able to repro the odd behavior it's going to be difficult to troubleshoot. I'm using Macbook Air OS X ElCap/Safari, iPhone5 and iPad Mini running latest IOS.
From memory, I recall that the weird volume changing issue is specific to Android.
The RECONNECT screen is only displayed when the connection between the Browser and the Pi is interrupted either by an actual network interruption or if the Pi were rebooted or shutoff. The other scenario that could cause this is if PHP crashed on the PI. This would be indicated by an error message in the debug log file /var/www/debug.log
What are the screen resolutions on the Android tablet and phone? I can simulate these in a viewport simulator and see what happens.
Try TR3 🙂
Regards,
Tim

Hi, I have a problem with digi+ clone. It work with 24/192khz just fine when use coaxial cable. But when use toslink it will work up to 24bit/96khz. Someone that used digi+ please confirm me that toslink work up to 24bit/96khz only. my setup rpi2 + moode25tr2 + digi+ clone + lcd16x2 + WNA1100 do hotspot dac : weiling dac5 WM8741 WM8805, superpro 707 cs4398 toslink cable : glass, cheap plastic And I am curious about transfer speed when direct connect between pi and pc with eternet cable. When I copy a song from /mnt/USB/ to pc, the speed is around 7000-10,000 kbyte/s. But when copy the song from pc to /mnt/USB/ the speed is reduce to 100-500 kbyte/s. It work fine with Volumio maybe my fault side. Koson

Hi Koson,
In TR2 /etc/usbmount/usbmount.conf file, change "sync" to "async" in the MOUNTOPTIONS. This should improve throughput copying to the mount points / samba shares.
Fix is in TR3 🙂

I'm using TR3 and finding that the RECONNECT screen often appears, both on my Macbook/Safari and Samsung Tablet. Reconnection happens quickly, so it's just a minor annoyance and in general I'm pretty happy with the Moode player.

Hi John,
Very odd.
(1) Whats your network config?
(2) Does RECONNECT appear while the UI is actively displayed and playing a song?

Hi Tim,
(1) Network: Wireless. DHCP enabled. (Don't actually know what that means so it may not be the information you need!
(2) I haven't seen RECONNECT appear under those circumstances. Only after the display has gone to sleep or after I've switched to a different window for a while.
Thanks for the quick reply,
John

Hi John,
Thanks for info. After looking at the reconnect code, I made an enhancement that provides auto-reconnect except after reboot or power on from power off.
It needs to be stress-tested but it should reduce the need to manually press the reconnect button 🙂

Hello Tim
A quick question. I'm reviewing V-Moda Crossfade headphones and they have Bluetooth. Do you know if there is any way of using them with the Raspberry Pi 2 and Moode? I know that they can be used with the cable that is included with them but I was wondering about the Bluetooth connnexion.
Thanks and best regards / Fernando

Hi Fernando,
I think some users in the thread have managed to get bluetooth working but I recall it being a complex configuration.

Re Bluetooth audio... the current bluetooth package is Bluez5 and from the arch wiki...
It would appear it currently doesn't work with Alsa and the older Bluez4 is no longer supported..
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bluez4
Bluetooth keyboards are supported and working with Bluez5 and I have one running with MoOde using this tutorial.

https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bluetooth_headsetNote: Bluez5 is only supported by PulseAudio and not by ALSA. If you do not want to use PulseAudio, you need to install an older Bluez version

When browsing albums in the library the order of songs on the album is screwed up. It must be the GUI - other mpd clients displays the order correct. Did I do something wrong?
With regard to the sort order issue, please zip up some tracks from that album and send download link to tim at moodeaudio dot org and I'll investigate 🙂

Tim
Hi Tim,
first, thank you for providing such a good audio player to the community! 🙂 I really appreciate it!
Regarding the playlist order. I think I can confirm the issue, that vilmann found:
The play order is indeed different, depending on whether to "Clear/Play" an album via the Browse tab, or to "Clear/Play an album in the Library tab (by clicking the album cover), but ONLY for Various Artists albums. I checked several of these. Can you confirm that as well? All of my V.A albums have "Various Artists" in the album interpret tag. I also checked the track numbering. These are correct. Maybe that helps...

Hi,
Are u referring to how the track order appears in the Library panel or in the Playlist?
The way Moode handles compilations in the Library panel is to create a virtual "Various Artists" tag as it encounters multiple occurrences of an Album name in the sorted Albums array. Its done this way because there is no standard metadata tag to indicate "compilation album"
The two main schemes for tagging compilations that I've seen are (a) iTunes which uses a special metadata tag and (2) manually setting the Album tag to "Various Artists" and then using Album Artist tag to represent the Album.
I'm open to suggestions 🙂

Tim
Well I'm not getting the RECONNECT problem this evening, so either Tim worked some magic at a distance or my wireless network is behaving better!

Hi,
Some new thoughts:
1. If volume is set to disabled, remove the circle from the screen.
Then also disable the button on top of the screen as it has no function.
2. If the playlist is removed from the home screen then do not show a message it is disabled but remove it and shift circles etc to the left.
Make the playlist a "disappearing" one with a button.
4. When coming back to the "home" screen from settings or other screen most of the time the time circle has gone to circle heaven...
See attached image (IMG_1642.JPG). Needles to say that it will not make that mistake anymore on my iMac when I need it, but this one is a foto of my iPad, same behavior seen on my iPhone.
Tim asked: What resolution is your screen?
1920x1200, 24inch display
Sometimes all the mount points appear in Browse panel after MPD DB Update. Just restart MPD from the MPD config screen and the unpopulated mount points should disappear.
You are right, but sometimes they get displayed again but I don't really care.
I will post some new screens with other stuff (like no buttons on IE11, windows 7).
Cheers!

Hi,
Re: your new UI suggestions. I think they are good ideas. There is a way to dynamically change the bootstrap grid layout after hiding the Playlist so that the knobs slide to the left and the cover art and metadata occupy the available space. Eventually I'll get to it 🙂
I noticed on the screen shot that the UI is not running as an IOS Home Screen app. This might be causing the layout issues.
To add Moode as a Home Screen app:
(1) Open Moode in Safari
(2) Press button that looks like an open square with arrow sticking out the top
(3) Press the "Add to Home Screen" button
(4) An app icon will be added to the Home screen, probably on page 2 or 3
Launch Moode from the Home Screen app 🙂

Tim

Still happening with TR3 in Firefox on my laptop and Chrome on my Android phone. TR1 and TR2 were both fine.
The occasional misrendering of the playback screen mentioned earlier in this thread happens to me too, in TR1 and later - haven't tried anything earlier. A refresh fixes it.
