Fast, fun, Inexpensive OB project

With the Tympany driver on sale I'm toying with upgrading the 1st gen Manzanita's (that have the dome tweeter) to the new build.

Can I use the old 12 mH woofer inductor in series with an 8 mH inductor rather than buying a new, big 20 mH inductor? It's obvious they couldn't be anywhere near each other but using the old inductor would both save money and prevent another old part from being thrown in the parts bin.

Mine came yesterday, ( tweeter) nice little looking unit!

Oh, well. Now you tell me after I just ordered a pair of new TC9FD. :p
Actually, not sure the TG9FD would work for me. Power handling is very low and impedance is 4 ohm.

For my Troglodyte version of the Manzanita, I'm looking at going to a 4" Faital Pro driver. Need more umph. Might work well with the double 15" version, too. John? What do you think?

Maybe it would be a little outside this thread (but just a tiny bit) but it would be interesting to find a similar tweet that is more efficient to go with doubled up existing woofer...well, I guess crossover would also be needed....I am awfully greedy but it would be sweet! Efficiency in 90+ dB range. I will shut up now.

I don't think it's too much outside the topic. John Busch and I have discussed this a lot over the phone.
FOr sure the little Vifa can not keep up with the double GRS 15" woofer version. I would not even keep up with a double Peerless version. That's why I've been looking at the Faital Pro 4FE32. No more power handling than the Vifa, but it's 6-7dB more efficient, which counts for a lot! It might be able to keep up with a double woofer version. Just don't know how it sounds at the top end.

The plots are here - Vifa on the left, Faital on the right.
