All looks fine but C9=100pF is not required, I left the room for it just in case some tube have too much gain. Bellow is my schematic to compare. R6=470R can stay, it does not matter much. I have added LED under the tube socket as an option, there will be approx 5-6mA flowing threw it so it will nicely light up the tube (like in pic bellow), I am using two SMD LED's there.
I know about C9, i just let it in case of. I will add le led too.

You can putt the diode network to protect the card input - they will clamp the voltage to certain level - like in gates in mosfet amp.
i think you misunderstood this.
The damaged transistor is at LINE OUT not at line in,this is strange

Yes i did not understood well, that is strange, there should be a resistor anyway at the output of the sound card too. Good that is fixed anyway.

Should I pull C9?
Also, I just realized that the tube I ordered is the 6N1P. Is that going to work in this circuit?
Thanks, Terry

I looked at the schema , this is the very old sansui IPS with the valve
instead of Jfets. Nice ! Similar but simpler than Vzaichenko's.
Using the Zener referenced CCS for the second stage assures that VAS I
will stay stable before the Valve settles. You would just not have signal.
Any DC before the valve settles ??
AOK !!

Yes, Valery's Low TIM hybrid will have almost rail offset at switch on. It takes maybe 10 seconds to settle. This IPS starts off around 2-3V and settles within about 5 seconds. I like this IPS a lot. It is simple and good sounding. Looking forward to trying it with the ECC88 too.
Hi Terry,
On the photo of your pcb on post #168, the resistors R33 look to be burnt but the R7s look to be okay - is there a problem or is it just the light shadows?

It's just a shadow. These boards have not been finished so no power has ever been applied. The 1k pots came in today so now it is just a waiting game for the tubes to arrive.

This thread is falling of the edge of the world....... I think it's very, very interesting and it should be kept alive.
Terry, does this amp deliver 'engagement' with music, that is, if you close your eyes listening to favourite music do you find yourself losing time, tapping with you foot, and wanting to listen for hours?

I believe that everybody MUST listen this IPS+Slewmaster .
It is the first time that i listen a clear different amplifier. I can't say if it is better or not but i like it a lot! You can feel the bass even when you listen at very low levels. Of course easily you can name this amplifier, subwoofer bomb!

Interesting. I'm working on the circlophone project (jfet version) I will put this on my favorites list.

That's why I'm so hard at work on "Bomb" part (5 pair mt-200 OPS).
.... or native 5 pair IRFP.
I know this would be unimaginable with that power on 500W 3-way speakers.

I do not know why but simple stuff/amp gives me the most satisfaction and fun, I do not have a lot of ''amp'' knowledge so I must do a lot of hardware and listening tests.
The amp is so simple and cheap that can be done as an experiment anyway.
OS
Looking forward the 5 pair MT-200 OPS it will be a real killer amp.
I decided to make a prototype based on picture you posted (some Pass amp I think), hope I will not blow up the lab.
The most fun is to discover new thihgs, learn and in some cases watch the tubes/LEDs gloving 😀
Binely
You can make ''any'' amp with the slewmaster, You can get chassis,PSU and heatsinks ready and than just swap some IPS around, it is really cool idea.

Exactly. A tube and some trans. +SLEWMASTER .Nothing expensive ,built and listen, that's it!
Good work NICE PCB !

I sim this design. At 1kHz, H2 and H3 is dominant, H4 and up are almost gone.
I now understand why most people love something like this. My "Perkutut" amplifier (kit version) have like this harmonic profile.
H3 make bass more "punchy" and H2 make sound more "warm". Just make them not to high, and it will be 😎

I believe that with this, and a few other amps such as Bigun and Juma's amps, a few DIYers are really designing some very good amplifiers.
Significantly, they all do not give extremely low THD. They do have highish H2, H3 and H4; but H5 and high orders are all lower than -100dB below the fundamental.
A big issue is not too much global fb, and the phase shift at higher frequencies. I believe this information has been known for a long time, as far as back Hiraga and Linsley Hood in the sixties.
We have been seduced by the psychology of numerical appraisal. THD figures do not relate very well to 'good sound'. The variability of subjective assessment has been ridiculed, but sadly people are very influenced by what others think of the 'sound', it's almost comical.
Marketing has been reduced to THD for many years, it's a great way of selling amps. What we need is a new measurement system....... what to do???

Do you mean high bandwidth amplifier will be better?
First time I design my Perkutut amplifier, I made slew rate 1V/uS for 1Vpeak signal. Some of more experience member suggest this. A friend who made the prototype said, my amplifier is good but sound no "airy". Then I modified it, made slew rate more high as I can. Later, he said, it can sound "airy".
