Versatile and comfortable passive pre-amp

Any ideas for a case? That is my main concern already because working with metal is very difficult and with wood is a mess, also I am space limited...

Jorge,
You could try something like this:

High quality aluminum Power amplifier Enclosure suitable for PGA2311 preamp | eBay

Not cheap when you consider shipping, but it has all the holes pre-drilled for your I/O, volume pot and display. Better check the dimensions of your LED display to make sure it fits.

Cheers, Mat

Thanks Mat...

It is not cheap, but considering all the metal work is cheaper than a modushop one. I will consider it...

Thanks Mat!!

Gentlemen, find attached the current order status.

@Diy-calderon, Passive240, Geoffcooper: I have put your name on the list for the second-round.

I had to change the brand of the PCB-transformer: the small HAHN-transformer, 7.5VAC is no longer available.
I have ordered transformers from Block, 8VAC, instead.

Best regards - Rudi_Ratlos

Rudi, can you confirm that the transformer you have ordered is this one?

The case I want to use is ~ 42mm high, so this one would be ideal.

Can anyone suggest a simple buffer circuit, not necessarily with gain. My amp's input impedance is 22k and I see on the LDR thread that this combination is not recommended. I would prefer a kit, but would be prepared to wire something on a breadboard to save cost or space.

Mat

Yes, Mat: the transformer that I have ordered is the "green economy version" of the one that you mention in your post,
and its height is 28mm.

I am currently using the VCPre -1 version on my TO3-SYMASYM, the input impedance of which is approx. 24K.
And it works very, very well.
I wonder, if you need a buffer for your amplifier.

Gentlemen, the etching company told me that they will not cut the auxiliary PCB.

"You will have to cut the boards by yourself if you fabricate a panelized design."

I am currently asking some of my German DIY friends, if one of them is able (has the tool) and willing to cut the PCBs for all of us.
If not: this is DIY, isn't it?

DIY OK but cutting PCBs (the dust and fibers) is not beneficial for your health. Better have them cut beforehand by someone who has the knowledge and equipment. No many people have the right tools and masks etc. to do this right.
