original crossover schematics for clone ATC SCM 100

x-over

I have got the XO from internet but I can't remember the site.

I havent been able to open your x-over scematics, even I registered as diy Audio member. Opening the file creates loop that states I am not allowed to open file... can you help me to open it. I am trying to modify Wilmslow audio K100 kit for better performance...

I have changed 3mH series inductor for SB75-314 for lower DCR unit and it added controll for lower register but it did propably something to lower crossover region so feel of spece/ambience became worse in that region.

looks like everything is available, even the woofers. Still its very expensive and I wonder how good it will sound.

Yes, all drivers are available and independently of x-overs cuts chosen, this stuff rocks!

Have you built one?

I've make use of ProAc E.B.S. cabinets to make such a clone, but I've changed original tweeters for a pair of Morel Supreme 130 ones. Everything's done now (aesthetically, I mean), but networking is still in the middle of the road.

I recently built Wilmslow audio's k100's really happy with them, except the sound insulation in the cabinets is a few bitumen pads covering the back and half the sides and a small piece of foam in the bottom.. I note the pics of the ATC restoration show foam inside the boxes of the genuine ATC's.
Would there be any reason not to fit similar foam to my Wilmslow audio K100's?
Could they be set up to have limited damping?? All a bit strange..

Restoration's pics showed some foam put after by owner.

After getting original ATC SCM50 networking info, I felt happy as I finally could end up my personal passive road, but I’ve found some troubles within my project. As we all know, ATC drivers are 8 Ohms, while the SM75-150 I have, they are 16 Ohms. Crossover is intended for 8 Ohms drivers, what would you do in that case?

Thanks!

Just a catching up on this amazing thread...

I have opened up a few ATCs to replace drivers after doing mine successfully and in mine I had thin foam I replaced with "egg-carton" foam to no sonic detriment, in another there was what looked like carpet underlay stapled to the inner walls while in another I found ordinary white wadding, which leaves me to assume that the insides have changed over time.

In all of them a bitumen-style square measuring 8" x 6" has been stuck to the inside side walls. It has been suggested that a marble tile stuck to the inner wall might be just as good.

I am looking for a pair of 8 ohm SM75-150S for my DIY build which is made up of parts cannibalized from my Active 100ASL and tweeter upgrade. So I have a DIY cabs already cut, Old Baffle and old (non SL) Bass and old (Vifa) Tweets plus various bits like wadding and so on.

On page 1 of this thread there is a xover schematic for the SCM50 or 100. Would any of you sages know the value of the resistors? I don't know what "47R" or "15R" etc. mean. And, for example, the inductors are marked clearly with the mH value, but followed with another #, such as ".7 mH-03". What is the 03 number after the mH value mean? Is it the ohm measurement? I would like to build a set of these crossovers, have decent soldering ability and can handle this build if only these questons can be answered...

Resistor and inductor value

Hello. For the resistor value of "47R" or "15R", it means "47 ohm" or "15 ohm". you can use mox type resistor at 10 watt rating. For inductor value of ".7 mH-0.3" it means "0.7 mH with it's internal resistance of 0.3 ohm", you can use 0.68mH 0.195 ohm at 14GA alphacore copper foil type... of course if your pocket is willing to invest for this type of inductor. Michael percy has 20% of clearance sale of remaining alphacore inductors while stock last. I think its wort to try. Check with him for the availability.

Hi CL - thanks for posting this. Does this mean that both the woofer and mid in all active and passive ATC speakers uses the 16 ohm versions?

Cheers

No, sorry I did not mean that. The bass unit used in the Wilmslow kits and in the ATC version is 8 ohms, but the mids are 16 ohms. I was told that the 16 ohm mids have always been used rather than 8 ohms. Nobody has given me a good explanation why though as ATC do make an 8 ohm version, but the 16 ohm is there standard unit.
Regardles the wilmsolw k100s do sound very good, but must be lined with foam whatever anyone tells you.
Regards
