Guys,
Just a suggestion, since there are more than 50 of us buying the board, could each everyone of us throw in a dollar for Alex, the PCB Designer, for getting a pair of boards for his effort?
Bigpanda, please add a dollar to my total payment.

news for pcb order
To all Group buyers,
I have sent performa invoice to your email (which should be your paypal ID). If there is any mis-information, please sent email to tony_chan_cf@email.com to rectify with subject "admend pcb orders". Please help by responding ASAP. Do not reply to the email if everything OK.
Total charged sum calculated as explained in Post 196, 197. Registered mail charge at / pair not / parcel so as to cover for the "insurance" as close as possible to the board cost. Try to read Post 190 to understand why charging / pair and not / parcel.
I have upload files for this project : schematics, BOM, pcb layouts to here :
FileFactory Folder view - goldmund
The schematic is the source that others are derived from.
There are a few glitches on the protection schematic (as far as I can understand). I change it with “red ink” please see if they are alright. The notation for the +- of the polarized caps are different from the main board so I put a “+” to eliminate ambiguity, someone please check that if the polarity of all caps are right.
About the pcb :
1. The value of the components on the main board had been changed to their ID (of course according to the original schematic)
2. The mounting holes for the TO-3 has been changed to 3.2mm instead of 5mm as in alex’s original work.
3. I suggest to make extra pads for some alternative transistors so as to make it easier (not absolutely necessary). Don’t know if that is a good idea.
Anyone kind (and good) enough to check the layout ? Nagys, alex and I could not be the goal keeper. It is very difficult to spot ones own mistakes.
tchiwam :
You have order for over 5pairs, Do you want any special arrangement for the shipping?
arthur, amhlee, TS Lo :
You guys will have local pick up, will you? Your charges will be adjusted in the formal invoice.
Krzysztof,
I don’t have your paypal a/c yet. So you have pulled out of this?

If I did not sent your performa invoice, then you are not on my GB list. If you have sent an order before please state when you did it and I will check. I will still be open for orders until end of this week.
Hope I am making everything clear.

Hi buyers,
Please do not sent payment to paypal a/c tony_chan_cf@email.com. If you have done so, you have to get it back. I cannot withdraw from the a/c by that name. I have to sent you invoice by another a/c.

Hi buyers,
Since someone is asking, I can accept other payment methods. Western Union Bank, Moneygram and those who do not charge the receipient, you can have 5% off (for I charge that as paypal service charge). Just tell me before I sent the invoice to your paypal a/c.

I wonder why boards are so expensive. For this quantities (250) and specs I could get them for 7,98 Euro a piece in 12 workdays with chemical tin surface.
If the board was covered with soldermask the less expensive HASL process could be used what drops the cost to 4,80 Euro per piece (17 workdays). I don't know whether the board house could even use HASL despite the bare copper plane.

Bigpanda - There are two different protection circuit schematics floating around. In the one you posted, C3's (1uF) polarity needs to be reversed. The negative should go to ground. Please make sure that's corrected. Here is my hand drawn schematic. This one I guarantee to be 100% correct and should always be used as a reference:
An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Nagys,
The C3 (1u) has its negative going to ground. Isn't that what it shows in the prot schematic (with red ink) that I posted? While C5, C8 have their positive going to ground and C4 has its positive going to +80v. And they agrees with the pcb layout. Hope we don't have to discuss on that one again. I had enough confusion already.

Like I said, there are slacks here and there and that should take care of alex's free pair.

I'd say "slacks" is a bit understated, given the Goldmund connections earns at least 6$ with each untested board sold. 226 boards * 6$ = 1356$. Should be enough for a small tip for Alex, isn't it?
Someone here on the forum informed me that the boards are going to be manufactured by PCBCART in China. Attached you find quotes for the Goldmund boards. One version is with HASL and the other one with immersion tin surface.
Note the prices are in Euro. For USD just multiply with 1.4.
The HASL version will cost 4,55 USD and the immersion tin surface one will cost 5,43 USD. Norbert Naguis and bigpanda charge you 17,50 USD per board. Thus their profit per board will be around 12 USD, total profit selling 226 boards will be 2712 USD.
This clearly shows that subscribers to the group buy will be seriously screwed.
This is not a group buy. This is rip off.
Have fun.

Hi Lee,
Are you prepared to organize a group buy from your source? I would like to know the boards I'm buying have been tested, but at this point what are our alternatives? Even if untested, buying at your price, I risk less money.

If this is true, I don't want any boards.
Thanks anyway,

Insane at ANY price to order 200+ boards on an untested design.
