PCB order for Goldmun clone

Hi Lee,
Are you prepared to organize a group buy from your source? I would like to know the boards I'm buying have been tested, but at this point what are our alternatives? Even if untested, buying at your price, I risk less money.

I don't think that boards fabricated by PCBCART are bad as such.
But it's almost criminal to buy cheap boards an sell them for so much money (more than tree times as much!!!) and especially to do this with an untested board that contains so many questionable design choices.
It was less worse if Norbert sold you the boards for a reasonable price, say 7USD, but buying untested boards for 5.50USD and selling them for 17.5USD is not okay, this is rip off.
Everyone here knows the design is untested and subscribing to the group buy despite knowing this means acknowledging the possible consequences. It's like gambling. You can "win" (no, not really, you will be screwed anyway) or you can loose altogether. That simple.

I'm not willing to take over the project since I have an own one running that is already quite time consuming. Sorry.

My way to do this was to order a single prototype board or a low quantity (10 pcs), test the amp and if it works well order the 250 boards. The cost for the prototype board(s) could be divided by 250 what will be a negligible amount. This is the way every sane person does it. What's going on here is just insane.

I suggested this maybe a couple of times quite a while ago now, as well as others suggesting the same thing, but Nagys thought he knew better.

Nagys just order a single prototype first and test it, better still have someone else test it. Your taking a big risk here. Why the rush?

This is not a group buy. This is rip off.
I'm not saying this is not a rip off. But as a previous organizer of a GB let me tell you this.

There is shipping and import duty before they get to the organizers. Then there is paypal duties per payment. And shipping to the GB members. I.e. the postage but also the packaging materials. Then the time to get everyones payments and pack and ship.

Etc. Etc.

They are already charging us separate postage and packaging costs in addition to the cost of the PCB's.

What about all of the work Alex did to make this possible in the first place. It is not that hard to provide a circuit diagram, but it takes quite a bit of effort to do a pcb espescially when you have to revise it several times.

If they in deed order from PCBCART (don't know this 100% sure, it's more a rumour) they don't have high import duties and high shipping cost.
Actually it doesn't matter where exactly they order the boards since companies compete and there shouldn't be a huge difference for a similar specified board between companies. My first quote was approx 5 Euro from a company in Ireland.

As tanh pointed out all other cost is charged to the buyer.

I don't know whether Alex is also screwed by Nagys and bigpanda. Maybe. If so it was even more outrageous because ha actually did all the pcb design work and they make big money with it - regardless of whether it's 1000USD or 2000USD earned.

I think if Nagys was to do some actual work, and build a prototype as well as have it tested by a trusted individual, then the additional pcb cost might be considered reasonable.
But at this point in time the board has not been tested, and it has a high chance of failure.

I calculated a prototype board would cost max. 80USD. Is this asked too much???

Exactly! Some weeks ago I sent a PM to Bigpanda suggesting that a few sets of boards were made. One set for Nagys and one or two more sets for some skilled volunteers. My idea was that with the boards on hand and with Nagys experience + parts already in the drawers he would be able to make the first prototype within a week or so.

As you say Lee Knatta, I also wrote to Bigpanda that the expenses for this prototyping could be covered by all the buyers together when the amp was "approved". This would add a little extra costs but when we are talking 200+ boards I would call the expenses peanuts. Unfortunately I never heard from Bigpanda.

I just needed to vent. I reported all personal attacks to the moderators and no one has taken action. Hopefully this post will prompt a response.

Don't you know that DIYA does not intervene in the commercial threads area that are a mere bulletin board annexe for members to trade? This one and no politics or religion threads must be the oldest DIYA's policies. To the contrary we bin & ban lewd language, getting personal etc. Hence your steaming off post goes down the drain in a short Nagys. If you repeat swearing you get a penalty. Sort your position out on civil arguments. :cop:

"This is a site for the group buy of boards for a Krell KSA 100 Mk-2 Klone. You will need one board per complete channel. There are no output boards made as part of this pcb!!

I am locking up the G.B. as of tonight as the quote I have is for 200 boards and we are at 180 now...

Boards are $19.00 each U.S. funds. I will ONLY accept payment by PayPal! No Exceptions...

Boards specs are to be: .093 thick G-4 fibreglass, gold plated traces, blue solder mask, white silkscreen on top only.

Board payment is to my PayPal Account: cinerama84106@yahoo.com Please add3% to cover fees. This is the same account used for the KSA-50 G.B."

Nobody complain with this price before....

Salas, can you please remove the multiple personal attack posts and post that have nothing to do with this group buy? I've asked the moderators to no avail. This is extremely frustrating.

Repeating: DIYA does not intervene in trade threads. Standard policy. Trade is trade and customers are customers, some are following and some are arguing or express suspicions. We do not moderate this kind of sector except for civility. :cop:

Posts #217, #221, #222, #227, and #233 are personal attacks and are directed at myself. I don't appreciate that at all. This is a group buy, I'm selling absolutely nothing, nor am I trading anything. I would appreciate if you could please remove these posts, or direct me where I can make a formal complaint.

You have reported those posts already. They argue about the readiness of a product and its pricing. Reply to those civilly, or deny more than technical involvement for instance, don't know, its your thing. We do not moderate GB, Swap Meet, & Vendors sections for content, pricing, civil argument, caveat emptor etc. Over and out. :cop:
