Here's a mock up of the striplam ply & alloy baffle
The drivers
Raven R1
PHL1120 6.5" mid
PHL3020 10" lower mid/upper bass
the upper section is a 3 way? with a 10" woofer. It looks smaller than that. 🙂
So will the XO used tubes too?

AR1 Hi Res based center speaker.
My center speaker, based on components from a pair of AR1 Hi Res, semiactive with 2 built in 500W RMS Sunfire amps each driving a 15'' bass element.
Frequency response on the original construction +/- 2db @ 18 - 23000Hz.

An externally hosted image should be here but it was not working when we last tested it.

Here are mine. They are Zaph ZRT's in a pair of cabinets I made from stacked baltic birch.
Very nice! Did you construct each layer from a single piece of BB or did you use mitered strips? I'm afraid that I'm a bit (bit?) of a cheapskate and I would have been tempted to do it in that manner.
How thick are the walls of the cabinet?

from a single piece of birch. It's not the cheapest way but it's incredibly stiff. The top and bottom are 3/4" and the sides are 1 1/4" thick. All the pieces were CNC'ed.

Well, you're certainly right about stiffness😀
Did you use any bracing inside the cabinet? Given the wall thicknesses, it would probably be overkill, but still.........

Perfect!
I'm a Belt, Suspenders,Topping Lift,Downhaul and Lazy Jack kinda guy myself.

What is being used for the finish?

This is my 1st completed DIY home speaker system. It's a 3way system crossed-over passively and actively with DCX-2496.
Thanks

Darp,
Those look great. Very pro looking. Does the government per chance call you Darpa and pay you well for such work?

Thanks Guys... No robotic lobsters for me though 😱)
I'm using Mach 5 MLI-65 Midbass drivers / HiVi DMA-A Dome Midrange / Vifa MG27SG2904 Tweeters
I had Solen design and build the x-over's for the mids/tweets since I didn't have the experience to do it myself... I'm using a DCX-2496 to crossover the mid-domes/bass... I'm Messing around with some T-Amps right now so I may actually go completely active soon.
I have some more pix taken during the process on another computer. I'll upload them later. Here's what I have on my notebook right now
The blocks of wood that you see inside I threw in as an after thought after realizing that I'd messed up the volume... The bottom compartment is now loaded with sand

Heheheh, no he's designing useful things... darpa's only interested in the absurd.
And one of those "absurds" turned into the internet. A lot of groundwork for a lot of useful stuff comes from DARPA.
