Zen Acousta

Driver is Fostex FE206en
Sound - Good but they are in store just now as I am working away from home again.
I still have to make some stands for them and get them set up properly, some sanding to be done on the inner horn part also.
The finish is as KoHo - shellac and violin varnish.

The first build day completed, and all parts are cut to size. I use 12mm baltic birch plywood (which cost an arm and & leg here in Sweden)

Don't tell my dad I uploaded a picture of him adjusting the table saw :)

Looks beautiful!

Thanks! :)

They have taken 8 days out of my summer vacation so far, so I'm fortunate to have an understanding wife. I wish I had access to a real wood workshop, but my parents garage had to do.
All major parts are now glued together, so the plan for tomorrow is to do some final touch-up and build some legs for the speakers. I won't be able to get them home for some weeks yet, so I might have to paint them where they are before I can actually try them out at home.

Wonderful!!!:):):)

Some more pictures of my progress - the legs are done too, and tomorrow I will spackle some imperfections and sand everything for the painting :)

It felt amazing to actually see the speakers stand by themselves for the first time today! It's been a long and hard road to reach this stage - so far I have spent 8-10 hours per day for 10 days straight on them, so everyone that consider building them and don't have access to a real wood workshop should perhaps consider this

I sincerely hope that they sound nearly as good as they look once I can actually listen to them...

What colour will you paint it Heffa? Also, which drivers are you going to use? And lastly, will you get subs to help in the bass or are you hoping the bass will be enough from these drivers alone?

I'm not sure about the correct term in english, but translated word by word from swedish it's called white piano-lack - that's high-gloss white.
The drivers will be a pair of Fostex FE206EN.

I'm hoping that the bass will be enough as they are, so right now I have no plans to add more... but that can very well change if I feel it's not enough.

Ok, one more update on my build - they now have three layers of primer on them, with spackle and sanding between each layer. Since the primer is also white I can now get a feeling of how they will look when finished.

There will be no more progress for a while since I had to leave them with my father-in-law and go home after beeing away playing carpenter for 14 days.

[edit]
I have no idea why the picture doesn't show up as in my other posts...
