It could be so to that is impossible to modify so I'm going get to be satisfied. I got a lot's of speakers which must be moved around! 🙂
Try to listen to a Jadis Orchestra integrated tube amp (hybrid really, with a couple of transistors in the input stage) in your system. This one has bass and sweetness. You may find second hand in good price.
Lowrider said:Cheap amplifiers bring cheap tubes, particularly the small input and driver tubes, usually one can improve the sound a lot replacing them...![]()
I've got four KT88, four 6SN7 and two 12EX7 So which one is a bad tube here?
This amp wasn't a cheap one even if it's coming out of China. There are at least 25 brand which is much cheaper than this.
Se the pic.

On both my Chinese amplifiers, well more expensive than yours, 1500 euros each, the German seller replaced the 6SN7 tubes with Electro-Harmonix, the best current production, he says Chinese 6SN7 are very bad...
12AX7 I dont know how bad they are, but being the input tubes and such high amplification factor, they must be the most important tubes on your amplifier...
Chinese KT88 are not bad, at least I liked the sound in my Cayin...
Your amp is quite empty inside... 😱

Okay Portugal that's acxacly what I need it, somebody to tell me that I brought an empty box weight 30 kilos! 🙂
Okay if it's empty than what should I put in there to feel it up?🙂 I looked the harman kardon the other day and that one don't have much more either and it sound good. 🙂
By the way the pick you published here are mine inside? If it is than surely need some more things to fel it up. 🙂 But what is the 30 kilo I brought? A little copper in the transformer?

Which speaker taps are you using, and have you tried the other ones?
I suspect with all of the bass drivers you have you might want to try the 4 ohm taps.
Upgrading the input tubes in this amplifier is probably a good tip. NOS Sylvania 6SN7 are hard to beat in most applications and are generally not too expensive on eBay. Try some different brands - also known as tube rolling and see what that gets you.

Dont worry, empty was my first reaction, then I saw it has the power supply capacitors outside, wich is good, I have trouble finding room for mine inside...

The GE 6SN7 and Kenrad one sound voluminous.

Yes I did but not much improvment. Cables you see there it was used only with the first try when I come home with it. Than lather I install the whole thing but as I told not much of the improvement.

So there is a lot's of manufacturers with the same type of tube, that's fine with me but do you guys ever finished? I mean I have other regular job too! 🙂
Okay, how do one knows wich is the best if the manufacturer didn't. As it clearly show here! 🙂
And where I'm going to wind up, with a seck of useless tubes? 🙂
I told you before, since you don't have the time for hobby implications, try a Jadis Orchestra. Good deals for second hand. That one has drive, power, no noise, good price.

I'm going to look into that one but I cant possibly just buy another amp again. 🙂 I just brought one recently. (last week) I don't made out of money you know! 🙂
If I win on the lottery than I'm going to hire one of you and let the things be done. For the moment at least for now want to hear that tube sound everybody talking is about.
I were joking about the time but it do sounds like it's a lifetime story for many of you! 🙂 I mean changing this and that. it's good as it's made the world going around but i do like to listen to music when I paint. good sund makes me paint better🙂 at least that is what I like to believe. 🙂
Thats the advantage of tubes, you can just listen for hours without fatigue...
About changing things, before I changed equipment, now I change tubes and capacitors, a lot cheaper and a lot more fun... 😉

You are realy in it don't you? 🙂 Are you electronic educated?
I you know could put things on it or in it but I haven't got a fatest idea why. 🙂 That's makes the different.
So is that amp I have is empty or not? 🙂
6 months ago I was in the same boat as you, then I bought a soldering iron, some solder and a few tools in Vienna, Austria...
Believe it or not, sometimes I had to reopen the amp to fix something that was not properly soldered, but it still plays, knock on wood... 🙄

I've got all kinds of tools! Big ones little ones. I even own a press producing 5 tons I can use for the Yaoin! 🙂
Don't forget I'm a photographer, artist and own a lot's of wooden, metall kameras and one Harley, two old Jaguars one bad chinese amp and an almost dead harman kardon.
So you think I'm the man with out of tools? you must be joking. 🙂
Owning so many bad things it's not a question if you have a tool it's a question where your own tool factory is located! 🙂
I had a couple of Harleys too, but didnt dirty my hands on them, well, only when I was stranded...
But you are way ahead of where I was 6 months ago, and I am sure you can find an helping hand closer than I could, but it was fun to do DIY with someone on the phone from the other end of Europe...

A way ahead? Explain.
Stranded? I only have things which the only thing can be achived with is stranding.
The only thing I own which I can possibly achive something with is my 5 ton press!! 🙂 God knows I love that machine, brutal and show destructiv evidence on any given tube amps!
Okay, seriously guys, if I got to change a lot in this amp tubewise than at least give me your opinion which is your best quality of the tube which you would use in my amp and why.
Love to hear your opinion.
So, I have this all chinese tube industri in my amp and there is NO
Bass!
KT88
6SN7
12AX7

I really like the 12AX7 (ECC83 is the name on this continent) from Ei.
They cost 8.50€ each at http://www.tubetown.de

Unless you want to go for expensive NOS, you wont go wrong with the best current production 6SN7, Electro-Harmonix, 10.85€ in the same store...
I would not replace the KT88 until I was sure I liked the amplifier...
