Are you betting on low score at the next hole or the lowest over the full 18?
I had more 2s playing the first way but also had more 5s and 6s leading to a daily avg of 3.85 or so. The long game approach dropped my daily avg to as low as 3.64.
Funny thing though, I haven't bothered keep tabs since cleaning the shop and getting back to actually building things.
