While they last...

So having them both sitting here,

The singing bush is great, I would say more transparent than SissySIT...

But, the SissySIT with a VFet part 2 driver is much better than the SB.

Punchy, dynamic with amazing detail and lots of body. Also with the lower output impedance drives speakers with varying impedance better.

Thanks ZM. You make Nelson proud.

My two cents 🙂

If used THF-51 devices are acceptable, Prasi includes a mounting kit with each device: isolation pads, nuts, bolts, etc

How much is cost of one used piece ?

Received today my THF-151S from Tomoaki. Beautifully packed ; matched to perfection and with the insulators/ferule...etc.

Tomo is a real gentleman. I can only recommend this source.

Can't wait for this build and see how this will fare with my Full Range system.

Very cool.

What insulators, ferule you received ? They looks like ? Thanks in advance 🙂

Great assessment Botte - I totally agree - SissySIT is the amp I come back to - however if I never heard the Sissy I would be totally happy with the Singing Bush
I need to put the VFET2 ( Tea Bag boards) in the system and see how it compares.

Botte - have you done that comparison?

there will be Plethora SissySIT

same DEFiSIT OS, new (active) FE ........ also some NFB involved

:devilr:

edit: Botte - now I see that you're having Edcor ; I'm giving Cinemag some praise there .......

however, that's nice subject - what one likes more - less details while more organicity (xformer gain) or more details while less organicity (active stage gain) ......

with my big honking and not honking speakers............... sometimes ......... dunno ....... like them all, when done properly

Thinking ahead a little bit I sifted through a 117 page AAVID pdf to find the correct Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS) shoulder washer for a TO-3.

Looked up the part number at both Mouser and Digikey only to find it's listed but non-stocked at both places with a lead time of 12 weeks at Mouser.

So I'm at plan B unless someone comes up with an easier or cheaper solution or has the proper part bookmarked and ready to go. McMaster-Carr has these washers that are rated at the same 500 degree F temp as the PPS version.

McMaster-Carr

They're for a #6 screw and have a sleeve OD of 0.187 that converts to 3/16" which is the mounting hole diameter that I roughly measured on my 2SK182ES.

There is a third option, which combines the best features of both but of course is more expensive: use a made to order transformer on a large core with core material chosen according to your own preference.

if you take Cinemag Hi Nickel, you'll hardly find any significantly better sounding

I know, I have better, not worth the mounting fuss

I believe what Botte said is more matter of preference for specific sound character than matter of sound quality

dunno did my Uncle Bubba Bob tried Onetics instead of Cinemags, but this is my stance ........

anyway , we'll see - as I said, I'm working on active FE which can be used instead of xformer gain cell, which will give same overall THD Spectra, just pushed miles down, hoping that I'll like it in same amount as I like organicity given with Iron (Nickel, whatever)
