On the bench tonight is a Coffee Money Amp. A 15w Class D amp with BT 5.0 for $4. It sounds very good and even has a large digital volume knob! Add a 19v or 24v SMPS brick and you have a nifty amp for bedroom or kitchen speakers. I am listening with my Rockville 2 way monitors. I really am enjoying the sound.

$500 for LSA Signature 50 is a steal compare to other budget commercial speakers. I imagine this can even compete to Revel with a waveguide added for wide even horizontal dispersion.
Which OEM ribbon does it use? If you can't mention it in public I will PM if that is ok with you.
One of my favorite ribbon is the Scansonic but they are using 4.5 inch woofer in all their models and can't keep up with high SPL and bass which the driver will distorts.

The LSA Signature 50 uses a very good dome tweeter. Signature 80 uses a planar with custom waveguide and is $1499/pair. Both use custom crossovers that I designed and voiced and made with quality film caps, no cement filled resistors, good large gauge pure copper wire inductors. The cabinet on the Sig 80nis impeccably finished in rosewood veneer.

I got a new LP by Pino Palladino and listened to it on a complete system that I led the design in (except the TT and cartridge). It sounds wonderful and pretty cool to hear a complete chain.

Mock-up with cardboard wings. I think I am going to make the wings more svelte and follow the rear lean angle a bit before expanding back to the width of the base.
Have you tried a comparison with the wings and without the wings?
The more sides you add to it, the more it departs from being an open-baffle IMO. In other words, you're essentially closing a lot more around the baffle, making it a partial box again.

I have not listened to it without the wings but know that the bass extension would be severely limited without it. It’s still far from being a box because that pressurizes a room whereas open back U baffles don’t. What we have is basically the width of a large OB but by folding it, we make the front profile a lot more wife-friendly.
I'd be worrying more about cabinet resonances, in this case, the wings acting as a secondary sound emitter on the sides.
It would be interesting to see graphs if you have the ability to easily test with and w/o the wings.
Vanguards are 7.5in W x 12.0in H x 8.0in D not including grill. Grill (magnetic) adds 9mm depth when installed.

The wings will be braced side to side and I’ll probably add mass loaded butyl sheets on the inside if it is a problem but resonances and re-radiation are generally not as big of an issue as people seem to fear. It is an open baffle after all with sound coming from all directions.

Yes, something I made years ago in cardboard. It sounded so good I made a note to myself to revisit it in wood. And now we revisit in wood and add 2 more woofer and a planar tweeter and larger mid bass.

I will also be making it a passive crossover vs DSP originally. There is a natural crossover between the woofer and midbass based on the cabinet design alone and I hope to exploit that to enhance the slope of the passive XO.
Will you eventually be sharing the construction plans or it will be a commercial product, fully assembled?

The final production speaker will probably be different due to manufacturing and cosmetics but the base design might be something I can share with the DIY community. Let me ponder this question. As you may have noticed, most of what I do for commercial products is visible and shared to the extent possible. I believe that having a base of DIY’ers does not hurt because people who buy speakers don’t have the means or motivation to DIY them in any event.
