The price of stuff in my country.
I went and bought a $15 coffee, it was 250mL.
I liked the coffee but I would've liked the $15 more.

In the last few years China has started to grow coffee, there are a few places like Viet Namh which are beginning to cultivate higher quality beans (Arabica) although they are over 90% Robusta. So watch the prices.

That's about what I spend for a weeks worth of beans (1 lb). Or a 1/2lb of single origin beans if I'm feeling special. I can't publicly say what I think of spending $15 for a single cup.😀

Sure you can.

So, based on the fact (revealed in official government reports) that at least 20% of arable land in China has been rendered toxic... well, let's just say I don't think I'll be buying my coffee (or any other food/drink) from China. Ever.
People who don't accelerate to speed in the Acceleration Lane, and expect me to get out of the way.
(My last coffee order was $6.49/lb Ethiopian Yirgacheffe green bean. It is time to order more, probably 10#.)

There was a report out by Deutsche Bank in 2009 which indicated that China had run out of arable land. But...coffee is grown on hillsides -- and is supplanting tea.
Real people
An international forum like this with the dedicated people ruining it is great. But, to change lanes here, I'm old enough to remember face to face conversations with people that like the same toys. It would be great to have conversations with a bunch of you across the coffee pot once in a while.
I've meet a few of you at events, but face to face is good too. The five speed in my hot rod 240Z is also gooooood.

OK, it doesn't really grind my gears very much. 99% of the time I just move on to the next thread. But it is annoying enough to prompt this post, and kindly request that when necessary, please provide at least a minimum of descriptive text.

Americans that can't speak or write fluently in their own language.
"It's a mute point"
Is that the opposite of "it speaks for itself"?
"Waiting with baited breath"
Better lay off the anchovies!

Who ?
Yes, this is one that bothers me quite a lot. Somewhere along the line in American English the words "who" and "that" became synonyms.
Rather than refering to people as "who", they are referred to as "that". I think this is indicative of the overall objectification of humanity.
In case there is anyone out there who doesn't know what I mean...

I was taught to use "who" in school but due to Sweden being very Americanized most people here would probably use "that". I must admit that I do it quite often as well.
And to be a bit more on topic, what really grinds my gears is having a blocked nose. Since I started my medication around three months back it has been blocked so bad I can't breathe through my nose 80% of the time. Nothing I do improves the situation and I'm just hoping it will go away when I finish by the end of February.
