In just the past couple years the nursing community (god bless 'em) began to point out the "paradoxical effects" of psychotropic meds on the elderly, exaggerating the effects of dementia. The nurses figured it out before the docs.
A 30 year old can take a sleep-aid like Ambien, or any one of a number of anti-anxiety meds and their system clears the drug in 8 hours, a 90 year old can require several days to clear the drug and be hallucinating a portion (or all) of the time. The nursing home med staff may prescribe another pharma which worsens the situation.
Seriously, don't feel you're alone in dealing with the situation, even after the parent is gone. It's a long road.
Whenever dealing with the psychiatric community or any drug which deals with the mind it is indeed a very tough battle when fighting against the people who are supposed to know what to do but don't actually know jack ****.
I for one spent 15 years telling counsellors and pill poppers my problems and I spent the last 5 years trying to tell the doctors that I felt better and that I didn't have depression anymore. They just thought it was a cry for help and recommended that I voluntarily sent myself to a bloody hospital!
"Why don't you come to my hospital with me?"
In their mind it goes a little something like this "He says he doesn't have depression anymore, that means he is psychotic! He must be locked up!"...Good grief!
They just don't want to see their cash cow err I mean guinea pig err I mean "easy target" go away and leave their crooked system.
See the problem is, as soon as you start to question their method of treatment they fight back against their attack on their integrity by doing the only thing that they know, by penalizing and punishing us "poor stupid people" with more of their treatment.
All I asked for was a way to treat my aspergers syndrome and all they EVER come up with was pushing those bloody Anti-depressants onto me, agan and again and again, I kept on telling them that the side effects are no good.
I don't and never have had Depression, I know this now, the only reason why I thought I had depression was because I read about it online! and because I was having difficulties socializing with other kids (Aspergers syndrome!, NOT depression!), yet they convinced me that I did and not only that they convinced me that my Aspergers syndrome could be treated with the Anti-depressants.
They think their meds are a god damn miracle cure for everything and TO HELL with the permanent disabilities that you are left with or god knows what the hell it does to your brain. I'm not just talking about the really scary stuff like chemical lobotomies or Serotonin Syndrome but I'm talking about the little things like permanent psychosis or developing bipolar disorder (when you never had it in the first place)...
Infact all it done was give me brain damage. And a couple of times two of the drugs almost sent me psychotic.
But you try to tell them!? Oh no! They KNOW whats good for you, it WORKS inside their little prison system so therefore it MUST BE GOOD FOR YOU!

So they spent 15 years scaring the crap out of someone with strong mind-altering drugs who has an anxiety disorder (caused by aspergers syndrome) and they STILL wonder why their meds never worked.
Which is why I stay the **** away from any doctor who can perscribe anything nowdays and am enjoying herbal and natural medicine.
I'm sucessfully treating my Aspergers syndrome with anti-anxiety medication called Lactium (Milk Extract) and Noopept. For the first time in 15 years I've got my brain back! 😀 😀 😀
You get the exact same treatment when you try and usurp Teachers, they will willingly force you to fail the course and if you need additional help will then go out of their way to give you bad advice just so you can trip up.
I've also heard that TAFE is forcing students to fail courses and not recognizing prior learning (making it more difficult to recognise prior learning skills than it is to take the actual course), want to know why they are doing this? So they can get more money from the government!

Your son - who is French? What does it make you Pano 😀

Small drivers
I drive a set of HK Soundsticks (modified) with Glen Kleinschmidt's K10A class A amps.
Pretty amazing how an array of four tiny drivers can sound (70'' x 35'' computer desk)
(Made six K10A channels, one stereo set for my son, to get some sense of audio in him. Gent continues to prefer earplug cell-phone. While contemplating what to do with the K10a's, I noticed that the Soundsticks handle 10W continuous power)

Sometimes, as with my mother, it is even simpler that this. My mother was a captive audience since she lived in an assisted living complex. The fees (about $3K/month) were paid from her pension checks. They liked the income stream, but couldn't cope with her daily escape attempts (she wanted to go "home"), so the simple solution for them was to keep her on the edge of comatose.
My brothers and I spent 10 years moving her from home to home trying to find a place that wouldn't do that, but the end result was always the same. She lived this way to age 90.

The public school system in Florida is one of the worst in the US. Their graduation rate from high school is pretty low, so they instituted a program to improve that. The "Dropout Prevention Program". The kid that lived across the street was one of their victims.
He got bad grades through all years of public school and was failing most of his courses in his middle year of high school. The program administrators enlisted him into the program, by removing him from all of his regular classes, and putting him into a special 6 week program that taught him how to pas the GED (General Equivalency Diploma) test. Then they gave him the test which he passed. They then handed him a High School Diploma and ushered him to the door one and a half years early.
So, this program gave a kid a diploma, who may not have got one through the traditional route, which improves the states graduation rate, but how does this help the kid.
This was about 10 years ago. The kid got a job at a budget auto repair shop doing alignments. He could not get into any vocational school to earn ASE certification needed to work in a better shop, because he did not have the math and English skills needed to pass the entrance exam. So, now he has two kids, and still works in that same budget shop while collecting government assistance....Again, how did that program help him?????
George -- my Aunt who was a nun up in Cleveland -- regularly escaped from the convent's infirmary when she had Alzheimer's. They couldn't figure it out -- had a receptionist and a door that had security.
His father, of course!
Thank god, I was afraid you would say you were french too 😛😀

It's a joke. A bad joke for most but it was a good joke for me. I had all A's, I had this English teacher writing all kinds of praise on my yearbook (if only she knew), I had a letter signed by Reagan telling that I was part of the elite or some other BS - can't remember now. Anyway, all these things were good for laughs. It was a 1 year holiday.
I had all A's
I didn't......not even close
I had this English teacher writing all kinds of praise on my yearbook
I had an English teacher in my senior year who begged me not to ever come to her class again in exchange for a passing grade!
They couldn't figure it out -- had a receptionist and a door that had security.
The last place she was in was rather secure since they had a wing for mentally disturbed patients. They came around one night at bed check and she was missing. A facility search and lockdown ensued, nothing.
My brother who was local was alerted, and he went there. Several hours of searching the facility the grounds and nearby wooded areas turned up nothing, The police were called, no unexplained old women had been found (this worked on a previous escape).
The next morning she was found by a worker INSIDE a Catholic church/school about a half mile away. Nobody could figure out how an 87 year old woman escaped, or got into the church kitchen undetected.
They moved her into the mental facility and kept her pretty well sedated for the last two years of her life.

Thats beyond criminal/inhumane.

haha, you know we are on the same page here when you refer to him as one of their victims. The public school system in Florida is one of the worst in the US. Yeah they put you out of regular class where all of your friends are and put you in the 'special' class where in their eyes all of the "retards" are. Everything a Teacher does is demonizing the kids and treating them like sheep. I've never heard of a kid who "just didn't want to learn" but that stupid bs is thrown around like its an excuse for everything that kids do.He got bad grades through all years of public school and was failing most of his courses in his middle year of high school.
I've found that they are the cause of 50% of the problems that these kids are having. The other 50% is problems at home.
Its no wonder kids run away. They realize that even mother nature isn't this cruel to them and want to get back to it, but in a world where most of the ground is cement they have to scavenge for food from dumpsters and live under cardboard.
So, this program gave a kid a diploma, who may not have got one through the traditional route, which improves the states graduation rate, but how does this help the kid.
I've found that worldwide everything that a Government does is involved in "looking" like they are doing something about the problem. This was about 10 years ago. The kid got a job at a budget auto repair shop doing alignments. He could not get into any vocational school to earn ASE certification needed to work in a better shop, because he did not have the math and English skills needed to pass the entrance exam. Just have a look at the "newstart" jobsearch program that they have in Australia right now. The gobberment is forcing people in the middle of the desert/outback to look for 40 jobs a week when there is only one employer and then cutting off their payments if they don't comply. (VERY heavy handed and VERY demoralizing.)
Everything that Teachers, people in Authority, people in Power have done over the last 60-20 years has been demoralizing and demonizing the most vulnerable. That includes the Doctors/Psychiatrists.
People in power just don't give a **** anymore. They think humans are disposable baby wipes and nothing more.

I suspect this is because of Overpopulation, we are simply over run by free labour doing nothing at all with no place to put people AND we have obliterated the American dream (the 1950s american dream) for the sake of profits.
It is a fundamental breakdown of Western culture and it truly saddens me to realize it.
But you have to keep spirits up! 🙂
I for one recommend anyone who thinks like this to become a survivalist/prepper. You don't necesserially need to own guns to be a prepper/survivalist. Prepping is merely collecting and storing food and collecting/maintaining equipment which will keep you alive in a post-collapse.
Its ALL ABOUT being independent of the grid. In entirety. Thats all. Whatever the ******** you hear about preppers being raided because they're storing guns well then they've obviously broken a law. I don't do that and I don't like people who break the laws either. But there are so many (thousands in a single county alone) that its difficult to break one or two of them.
Like solar power for example.. I want my toons afterwoods! 🙂 But if you install it improperly in Australia they have the right to come and STEAL everything you've paid for. For the sake of SAFETY....
Gotta have the right heavy-duty conduit, gotta be CEC approved (BIG Bucks), gotta have both postiive and negative circuit breakers. Gotta have a proper ground (fair enough)... Gotta earth the solar panels independently (Fair enough). Gotta have the right gauge cable (fair enough).
Red tape, gone mad. Bereauocracy is killing us.
Just ask that chick who couldn't get a shot of insulin from an ER because of red tape and died, how the system is working for her.
This is all very emotional and very very political. But the fact remains, Overpopulation is killing us as a species.
That kid you referred to wouldn't have this problem if there were less kids going to school, He would've been catered for very well.
I would've been catered for very well, I wouldn't be a flop that I am now.
My mum and dad would have the proper retirement needs.
My neighbours wouldn't be so damn close and I could take a British open-top car out for a drive with NO TRAFFIC on the roads, or drive a motorbike.
I would have a decent job. diyaudio.com would probably be a smaller community.
I just hope the people in charge can manage to control things without letting it all go to pieces. There has to be some kind of genius at the helm to keep this bitch of a global society under control.
I for one am going to do what I can, make people aware of the problem and also sit back and enjoy life as much as I can.

But not uncommon.

I know about this first hand. I did not fit in in elementary school. I had a bad case of what is now called ADHD. I could not (and still can't) pay attention to anything for more than about 5 minutes, but am very smart. My mind wandered in class and I was in trouble every day. By the fifth grade the school administration convinced my parents to remove me from public school and put me in a special school for kids who didn't fit in. That didn't work either. I never did well in school, but did manage to get a diploma, and teach myself how to fix nearly anything that is broken.
In today's world kids that don't fit in are pushed aside and lost in the system. I do believe that there are SOME people in the education system that genuinely want to help the students, but they are the minority, and the system, at least in Florida is vastly overloaded and very broken.
George, to a great extent I blame the pharmaceutical industry along with the attitude that we should have a pill to fix everything. This attitude has gotten a lot worse in the USA since the drug companies started advertising on TV. People are told they should tell their doctor they need a pill. BS!
While not to the extent you experienced, I'm ADLD/ADHD as is my son. I suspect most creative people are.
When my son was in 1st grade he had problems paying attention in class (as I did). Fortunately, in this school system there were procedures in place to test and diagnose such behavior. Once diagnosed we got the usual recommendation for treatment and Robert experienced hallucinations from the meds. So we took him off the meds and decided just to deal with the issues ourselves. He was put in a special class, but only during recess. In the class he got remedial assistance to help him with his assignments. At home I worked with him.
It takes effort and time to help a child who has an attention issue.
Most people don't want to take the time and make the effort and want a "quick solution" aka give them a pill.

A prepper does not expect the government to take care of everything, nor assumes experts to have the same goals.
People make career promotions, till they become incompetent.
Or were incompetent from the start, and never bothered to question their teachings (psychologists, psychiatrists, social care 'professionals')
Competent ones may have other primary targets, that interfere with yours.
We (my g/f and I) decide which medication (in which shape/form) we need, do not leave it up to the pharmacist.
The pharmacist offers what is most profitable for him, which not always leads to purpose fitting meds.
In a few cases, that has led to bypassing the regular pharmacist.
We decide which operation we need, the surgeon's role is the 2nd opinion.
We decide which medical coverage is required for that, at which location, to receive what is best for us.

We decide ourselves which retirement options to pick, which are the risks, do not count on the government to be reliable.
We do not put all our faith in banks, stock, or investment 'advisors'.
We do not place our faith in luck either, merely in odds at one given moment.
That's how my g/f wins at the casino four out of five visits, knows when to leave the fifth time (gambling addicted ho)

OH and the lack of cotton covered wire use in vintage restorations and indeed in any new builds.
Cotton covered wire for everyone!
Why cotton covered wire? Just nostalgia or something else?
