I share that philosophy. Life is an optimization problem - how to maximize fun without generating unintended consequences?

Thats a good requirement that I would sign off to. It would mean that while you do either fun things or not so fun (not so fun in order to enable times of fun) - one should not cause any damage or disturbance, short or long term, to other fellow fun optimisers.

Yes agree, but its often hard to reach a mutually acceptable definition of what 'damage' actually is to those others. Also we should include damage to ourselves as a result of our fun though we aren't likely to agree on what 'damage' is.

One thing that is giving enjoyment in life is music.
So, we are correct in spending time building stereo amplifiers and loudspeakers.
The construction is one enjoyment. The other fun is to listen to the music we like.

Me too. I have never fulfilled my biological destiny and almost certainly never will. In retrospect this is a good thing I think. There are many genetic aspects of my existence that are best left to wither away. I'm referring to the tragic history of mental illness in my family.
