Thanks Bob, will be looking forward to hearing your results on this driver. The 5 inch unit in this family looks good as well, may try that one and see. So many speakers, so little time!

As do I.
The response is flatter through the 1-4khz range than almost any 8" I've seen.
That's a well designed tweet interaction.
Underhung, and a pair shipped for under $200.
Seems like a winner.

Driver is the MA P7. My initial impression of the P7 is that it has a bit less character than the A7.3.
Hi Bob, what do you mean by 'character'?
@Bigun
The 7P sounds a lot like the A7.3, but something seems to be missing. Detail? Sparkle? I don't know, but just less pleasing than the A7.3. But hey, for $50 delivered, a very good driver.
Bob
BTW I can't find a product PDF for the 7P, just the Madisound page. Anyone have a link?

Thanks Bob.
I wonder if one mans sparkle is another mans fatigue - I'm rather sensitive to treble peaks. I've seen very little posted here in terms of sound impressions about the P7 but am inerested to see more.

My error. I meant the P7 not the 7P. I.e., the Pluvia 7, not the Alpair 7P. The P7 page at Madisound does not have a link to a data sheet, and the P7 has not been added to the obsolete Mark Audio web site.
Bob
Yes, since Mark's retirement, the website hasn't quite kept up with new products. The Pluvia represents what I'd consider a very nice evolution of the CHR70, but I don't think upon listening anyone would mistake them for the A7.3
The P7 sounds a lot like the A7.3, but something seems to be missing. Detail?
The A7.3 is capable of transmitting a greater level of low level detail (ie has greater DDR than the P7). So if what comes before the speaker has already lost that detail then it is an ideal driver.
P7 should also be capable of greater bass extension being very similar to the EL70 in terms of alignments. We are going to put our 4 early units in a set of Thirlmere-Rs (and maybe use them as bass helpers for A5.2/10F/FF85wk)
