What did you last repair?

I just rinse them down the sink with the hot dish water...
That is plain irresponsible and selfish! Fat and oils are known to block sewers: it is not only a matter of blocking drains which affect you directly in the vicinity of your flat floor, but an even more serious matter affecting other people.

'''Monster''' fatberg found blocking east London sewer - BBC News

You can search for other similar stories, however, I think, you are trolling me to pass some time, and I congratulate you for succeeding at first.

Bye, it is now time for me to fly away into the world of dreams....

The worst enemy of drains, is edible oil. I had two occasions of drain pipe blockage due to edible oil being converted into something much like grave wax. It is a wax like substance and it is very hard to penetrate. Fortunately, in both occasions, the blockage was within reach. The first time I had to call someone to unblock the drain and the second time I did the job using a product sold at supermarkets and several big kitchen pots of hot boiling water!

After these two occasions, I make a point to use kitchen towels to remove all oil from plates, saucepans and pots: the expense to unblock a drain blockage under my house would cost several thousand, as it would require the removal of tiles to access the drain pipes underneath. This extreme can be a reality if other less invasive and less expensive methods fail.

My advice is, treat kitchen edible oils and fats like the devil himself!

Smart thinking Ed.
Oils, greases, cause clog-up because they're sticky, adhere to the pipe walls, and anything solid then clings to it - then ya got a mess to deal with.
Bits of toilet paper, stuff tossed down the garbage disposal, etc...

Yeah, hot-hot water helps soften and flush them out, so does those enzyme treatments - I've used them (overnight) with success.
Then the next morning I run the hot water for a couple of minutes to make sure the crap is flushed through.
Ya do this occasionally, it helps.

My Sony XDR-F1HD tuner crapped out on me two years ago--bad power supply. I've finally got my electronics workspace back, now if I can just find the service manual I bought 10 years ago. I'm hoping it's just power supply capacitors (bad hum level) and that the DSPs aren't also scragged. I miss the multipath immunity and the extra programming that HD Radio provides.

Then it's onto repairing my computer speaker amplifier, a Heathkit AA-1800 and AJ-1500A, and some old test equipment (what I don't sell off). The AA-1800's relay/protection board is MIA, so that's the challenge there.

At least I'm just talking about the average oil/fat from cooking... I've seen people dump their used _motor oil_ in the storm drains 🙁 Now they paint a fish beside the storm sewers so people know they aren't sanitation drains (like that would make it ok to dump your 10W30!).

I assume you loathe the garbage disposal?

And no, not trolling. Living in a high rise appartement has it's perks. Endless hot water and pipes that don't clog are two of these perks.

I've never needed to snake a drain here or use draino. The only thing that slows down the drain is hair clippings and that can be cleared with one push of a plonger.

I have two of these and on one of the them the display suddenly has all segments active although you could just make out the correct segments if you got the viewing angle correct.

On this one the tiny 1.2v 0.04Ah NiCad backup cell was measuring around 1.85 volts and so overdriving the display. Suitably sized cells are available from my usual suppliers but at around £5 each (since when did these things get so expensive 😀) it's more cost effective to buy a new timer. Even cells on eBay are expensive. Under £1.00 and I might have considered it 😉

Wow!
Those disposers have gotten expensive!
My insinkerator was installed in 2002 and still purrs like a kitten, thank god.

Yesterday I fixed a 12+ year-old Husqvarna 125B leaf blower. I last used it in August to blow sawdust and construction debris from the patio. Halfway through the job it began bogging down, then stopped altogether. When I dismantled it for a closer inspection I discovered all of the fuel tubing to be completely rotten to the point where the lines were passing more air than fuel.

It took longer to source the new 3/32" and 1/8" tubing than it did to replace it, but now the blower runs like a top. The fact that the tubing was only $3.00 US was icing on the cake!

Double Wall oven. Found a few bad solder joints on the control board that were causing it to intermittently shut down saying it had a power failure, and prevent use of the lower oven showing that the door was open. Both specific joints were the right ones to cause those failures. Glad to have that fixed!
