wondering do the ejmlc 300 be a good match to tad 4001 or 4003..and modification may be need to maximize the matching?
How so?
The directivity variation w/freq is nice and smooth, but decreasing, i.e. not CD.
I've messed around with ribbons on waveguides, and found a couple of issues. First, they blow up quickly. Second, the response usually looks like what you see with the larger ribbon from yesterday's post. Basically, at high frequency there's a lot of peaks and dips on and off-axis.
This is because of the geometry of the ribbon. Due to the large size, we're getting peaks.
So the performance of the LCY ribbon is exemplary. I imagine it's due to the small size of the ribbon and the excellent geometry of the horn.
As far as it NOT being constant directivity, I wouldn't expect it to be. It's not a CD horn.
I think that ribbons are attractive as a source for waveguides and horns, as the last octave tends to sound cleaner than a compression driver, due to the very good CSD.
Current Pricing for Group Buy
Ive been away from this thread for a bit so please forgive me if i missed an earlier post with explanations.
Is there a current pricelist for the group buy that includes new waveguides/horns like the EJMLC-600 ?
Or does the DIY Soundgroup website reflect the current pricing ?
And just for kicks, anyone care to comment on how the JMLC-200 would work with a fullrange driver like the Fostex F200a ?
I just happen to have a pair that need a new/interesting home.
Thanks all,
Daniel

Ribbon versus ringradiator (JMLC-1000).
You are a rockstar! Great work.
That 8k ridge is a rough customer...
Yep 🙁
The BMS performs pretty darn well. I have a Fountek ribbon here that I was going to try in some Unities, but I'm leaning towards going back to a compression driver because the ribbon sounds strained, and I don't have a compelling reason to use it.
Well, besides the novelty factor.

Looks very nice!
More details if possible would be welcome, like drivers and horns used and crossover points.
Also is the 110Hz tractrix ready and how will it cost?

First prototype is being manufactured so please wait for price.
A highly recommended 3-way arrangement with driver, 8-12" woofer and subs.
I'd love to know more details about the three way system please.
Very nice setup jzagaja!A highly recommended 3-way arrangement with driver, 8-12" woofer and subs.
The top mounted horn, is it JMLC-400?
JMLC-350 + BMS 4592ND, JMLC-200T without rollback with Visaton B200, closed subs with Dayton Reference 15". Large horn makes the difference. Previously large bass horn were used. Active setup with Behringer DCX.

correction 😉 not JMLC 350 but JMLC 400
xover pionts are, 180 Hz, 600 Hz, 5000 Hz
What's the reason for not using rollback on the 200 horn in this setup?JMLC-350 + BMS 4592ND, JMLC-200T without rollback with Visaton B200, closed subs with Dayton Reference 15". Large horn makes the difference. Previously large bass horn were used. Active setup with Behringer DCX.

Makes sense, but have you measured the response and compared it to a "full" JMLC?What's the reason for not using rollback on the 200 horn in this setup?[/QUOTE
