VSSA Lateral MosFet Amplifier

It seems to me that we have 6-7 who wish to 'improve' the standard build/circuit. How many are satisfied with the original as built to the original guide?

My concern is purely friendly meant when pointting in group delay specs. I of course very much like the top sound expressed by members comming from this amp, as example they express they now hear fingerboard artifacts from different instruments. As every other specs are topnotch i just care for the nonlinear group delay to maybe be the reason for some of the expressed sound picture from amp, then by eliminate the non linear group delay so we get linear groupdelay in audio band all specs are then top notch in audio band, and how does it then sound. All this concern is for seeking good gear for both sound production and reproduction for consumers so we a day will hear the same good sound produced in studios. Last i have no science or proof for the groupdelay makes a different to VSSA, just a concern, regards Ricky.

Many thanks.

My MAIN concern is that we now have what has become a generic thread re VSSA including possible tweaks/improvements/balanced versions /revised versions etc. It has become impossible to follow unless headings to every post making it clear as to which version is being commented on are added.🙂

My balanced stage trials are done with exactly the group-buy versions of VSSA, so nothing exactly coming from myself, except the setup. If interested, everyone should head to my post #1660.

Not sure if LC is able to do that , but it would be nice if he can, to mention this in his first post. I am now completely focused to listen to what I did not listen until now... the missing details. Except for extra power my balanced version is more or less, identical to the genuine VSSA when comparing sound. Possibly a bit more detail, but it may be related to my own setup.

For sure, I try to live in a different world now, forgetting about the LTP stage. Andrej, thanks for opening my eyes!(and especially my ears)!
Cheers!

I'm very satisfied, it sounds damn good and both channels are povered from a single PMI cap multiplier and one 200VA toroidal 2x24V.

You know what i hate most about VSSA ?
Is that this little amplifier sounds better than other more expensive projects that i built in my Diy career.
And i believe also that my speakers need an upgrade to more better ones. (XTZ99.26 MKII)

Of course I am able to that, but to be sure doing it correctly what exactly did you have on your mind to put in the first post? 🙄

Like Christophe once said VSSA is like an egg, cannot do much more about it. :cloud9:

Exactly. It could be the end of the road... 🙁
Not good for neurotic types like us...for example, now I am building five or six different amps (different topologies, different PS...etc) and that exercise could be transformed into a merely a learning experience, since this amp is so satisfying. Satisfaction is the clue word here...

And I agree that the flaws of the rest of the chain are rendered evident, which is good as this obliges to upgrade the sources and speakers. 😀

To MKusan: about elcos, my VSSA modules have Panasonic FR, which seduced me for cost and long life. They sound clean but still a little hard or "tight" but I hope they will improve over time...I still have a love affaire with Rubycon ZL 🙂 which I am using on my DIY VSSA effort.

Cheers,
M.

I was thinking to a link to the post #1660 of this thread where I presented the concept of a balanced version out of two single ended ones. And as well, probably even better is to link BYRTT's post #2534 with details of quite important points of this thread. It would be a good index for the newcommers and builders as well.

Cheers!

My humble effort.
Detail of the "charge-transfer supply", adapted from -ECdesigns- work to high power circuits.
😎

(I run out of good wires)
