Yes, it's angled at the cone, but most rubber surround replacements are this way based on what I've seen.Check the 125mm, as to my knowledge the surround has to fall into a recessed ring on the frame. And does it have an angled ring for cone mount (140deg)?
There is some free area between the cone and the frame, why not try to look for a foam surround or verry lossy rubber one, you could mount reversed : i.e. the bump of the surround towards the speeder; the edge glued at the botton of the cone edge. A la Skaaning or some Audax for illustration.
well certainly doesn't need as one of the flatest no break-ups 5".

@profiguy , whatever suspension you put on Vifa, other than original, it won't sound exactly the same. So leave those SB drivers, don't massacre them. There is a high probability that you will damage the SB suspension during disassembly. And if the diameters of the membrane and frame, and the diameters on the new suspension do not exactly match, there is no way to mount them inverted. And there is no need for that.
That doesn’t work, the inner ring is angled. There is some free area between the cone and the frame, why not try to look for a foam surround or verry lossy rubber one, you could mount reversed : i.e. the bump of the surround towards the speeder; the edge glued at the botton of the cone edge. Here's a DATS Z-scan of one of my P13WH
It's probably worse thn usual - it's been stored at ca. 10 °C for quite a while...
Still fs = 281Hz is an impressive degree of degradation

Patience. The glue is thermoplastic, a bit of warmth helps too. I usually start peeling with a scalpel, then pull very gently.
I put a new blade in my scalpel, cut & pulled up a end, and the surrounds came off in one piece. Easier than I thought.. I usually start peeling with a scalpel, then pull very gently
I ordered the EC 113A surrounds from the eBay site linked above. They arrived in a few days.
They are much more soft and floppy than the originals; the outer flange section is about 1.2mm thick; ca. 0.5mm at the Roll; and ca. 0.3mm where it attaches to the cone.
It will require a lot of care to mount them accurately to the cone, I suspect.
Hi all!
A few month ago I contacted Dr. Kurt Müller GMBH and asked about surrounds for the P13WH-00-08. They pointed me to a few different repair shops in Germany and the Netherlands.
If there is enough interest they can make a new batch, but the minimum quantity is 100. I guess there are enough old P13WH's around for this amount?
Please note that (at least) two slightly different surrounds were used: "SR 115 ." and "SR 115 :"
The companies they pointed me to is:
www.lautsprecherklinik.de
www.lautsprecher-manufaktur.de
www.info@audiofriends.nl
www.diesoundgarage.de
www.klangmeister.de
www.jh-elektronic.de
I have not yet asked one of these companies if they were willing to order 100 surrounds, but I could do that if there is interest?

Good work Jacob.
MOQ of 100 does not seem too difficult, if the cost is ok.
Is it worth a group buy?
I would take 4 pieces if the price is reasonable. There's four on every other Ariel and ME2 out there...

Currently experimenting with substitute surrounds for the P13WH and it looks promising. I made a surround out of a ring of flat .062" thin neoprene foam. Haven't gotten around to measuring it yet, but a few sweeps with sine waves sound hopeful.
The neoprene foam is self adhesive and a pain to work with. It wasn't easy to apply it evenly and maintain VC centering.
Since someone asked what I used to remove the old adhesive, I just pulled it off by hand and cleaned the residue with acetone.
They usually glue rubber to polypropylene with contact cement. Nothing readily available will permanently attach itself to this plastic, so a strong solvent based contact cement is what most manufacturers prefer. You can just pull the old stuff off by hand and it will look like new. Polypropylene is very inert to most chemicals and solvents, so an adhesive promoter is typically used before applying the contact cement.

If someone were into the repair of Seas, Scanspeak and Vifa drivers, it would make sense to invest in a small production run of these surrounds. My concern would be that in the end, you'll be hard pressed to break even with this despite the interest of a few hobbyists. You'd need the up front capital to initiate it and hope they don't take their sweet old time making the surrounds, otherwise your stuck in the middle of it all if they don't deliver. At the very least you're likely talking about a financial outlay of at least several hundred dollars. Might be worth it if there was enough interest.Good work Jacob.

The glue used at the cone junction is definitely contact adhesive.Patience. The glue is thermoplastic, a bit of warmth helps too. I usually start peeling with a scalpel, then pull very gently.

Hondasnl, thanks for the link to speakerrepairshop.nl. I have sent them a mail to see if they are interested in buying 100 pcs of the surround. Non of the other companies I have contacted where willing to make the investment.
Also, your repair job, AND speakers, looks excellent!

I have some positive news about a new batch of surrounds for the P13WH being made. speakerrepairshop.nl is working on getting them back in stock, but it will probably take a few month. I will get back updates, if or when the surrounds becomes available.
I was in contact with Scan-Speak about the type of surround that was used for the driver and they were very helpful in digging out type number and rubber type, as well as confirming that it was made by Dr. Kurt Müller. Vifa used to be made i the small danish town Videbæk, and Scan-Speak has since produced drivers from the same address.
