Very simple quasi complimentary MOSFET amplifier

Thanks for the extra eyes and compliments guys.I think i should change the default colour scheme in Sprint. The colours seems to merge in my brain after a while.

Corrections have been made to the silkscreeen, gerbers and lay file.

Regards
phunk

Hi

Hugh, you got me in the mood to look into this amp. especially the groovy PCBs.

The Gerber files attached to post no.1627 do not show any silkscreen when I load them into JCLPCB. Just having the bottom copper layer without knowing which components goes where won’t be easy. JCLPCB confirmed that the files did not contain any silkscreen. This is a single sided PCB.

The designer of this PCBs last connected 4 years ago so could I please have someone with pcb knowledge check out the issue please.

Silkscreen not showing up...

Thanks
Eric

LET'S ASK UNCLE PHUNK!!

Hi Eric,

Let's ask PHUNK to redress his Sprint gerbers again from 2016?
PHUNK, if you are still here, could you please put your gerbers for the quasi back into the forum? They were magnificent......!!

If we can't get them to work, I would strongly suggest using Thiago's version, and his has the advantage of having the two independent power supplies on the same pcb. Once built, you have only to add the transformer and you are done.

Ciao,

Hugh

Uncle Hugh,
This is the second Ranchu build that I did, Works 100% out of the box and great sounding amp !
The only problem there was when the people hotplugged the rca leads and that blew one of OP trannies, otherwise all is well.

Hello Eric!

I loaded the files at JLCPCB, their Gerber viewer is showing stencil labeling, but no image of the front of the pcb when they are are loaded on the build option page. Strange??

This is how my boards looked when I got them:

Hi AVT,

I noted you live in SA - I went to school there and have happy memories.
How does the quasi sound compared with your impressive stable of amps?
Some said it was not particularly resolving, but I have always found surgical resolution to be overstated - it can be fatigueing.

Hugh

Hi Hugh,

I like it here in SA. I grew up in a proper big smoke, so I'm happy to be somewhere quieter and with less traffic.

Yes, the quasi isn't the most clinical or precise amp, but it is polite and easy to listen to. I tend to switch between this one and the Retro 50W (AX-6) for general day to day background listening.

your impressive stable of amps?

Does anyone have the number for 'Amplifiers Anonymous'? I think I have a problem.. 😀

Hi Avtech

Where did you order your pcb from?

Also, please share that amplifier anonymous contact, I really needed...lol

Hi all

Thanks a lot for all the answers, let me look into this.
