Thanks All. Sorry for taking a while to respond, I have been wiped out with flu for the past week.
Thanks Prasi for the offer. I have made a few p2p PSUs in the past, but would
like another opportunity to improve my etching. I'll come back to you with some details if I may?
All the best
Richard
Sure, take your time and get well soon.
Nice!if you tell me the dia of caps, i could make a simple bulk cap psu for you. like x said psu are simple to make even p-2-p. also let me know the kind of rectifier you have.

edit; nice job with R.E. cap mult Thiago
To, Tripmaster, there also a juma CM using mosfet, that i made for Cubie3. attached

The same for you Thiago.Multiplier capacity based on Elliott's article.
Maybe it was useful here?

Yes Sir, Mr. Thimios, at your service😉.
Would you rather prefer the rectifier in GBPC package or SIP package like Vishay PB3510 package? 🙂

Great to hear that the boards finally made it to India! 🙂
I think IRFP250 should work fine - just next generation of IRFP240. Good luck on the build!
Cheers,

check the gate to drain capacitance is no higher than 5nF. If this is too high the mosfet slows at high frequency.

Hi All,
My 2 cents 😉
IRF530 (as well as IRF540) has got smaller die and smaller package (TO-220). As a result - roughly 2 times lower capacitances and half the power rating. Also note the voltage - it's only 100V maximum.
So, talking about the equivalent replacement for IRFP240, I would consider 2 x IRF530 in parallel (with separate gate stoppers and source resistors for proper current sharing), assuming your rails don't exceed some +/-48V (each output transistor sees almost rail-to-rail at high swing).
IRFP250 and IRFP260 are not just the "next generation" - they have got bigger dies, roughly 1.5x times bigger for IRFP250 and 2x bigger for IRFP260 (same, as the power rating). However, the capacitances grow at higher scale, appearing 2x for IRFP250 and 4x for IRFP260. So... these guys are powerful, but may require the driver stage redesign (higher charging current capability) and possibly compensation amendments.
The whole IR HexFET product line analysis is showing that IRFP240 is somewhat ... unique in terms of linear audio applications due to the following combination of reasons:
- It's got a complementary IRFP9240;
- It's got a relatively high power rating (150W) and good voltage rating (200V);
- It's got relatively low capacitances for this power rating (still requiring proper driver stage);
- It's inexpensive, making the whole amp economically efficient, especially if multiple output pairs are used.
Cheers,
Valery

Any Advice please ?
You should be able to get IRFP240. Look around. I've never seen it disappear so far ! Chennai has it and so do Bangalore shops. Someone in Hyderabad should have it. You can use the IRFP250 for sure . You should have enough current driving the Crss of the IRFP250 MOSFET. However not by a very large margin.
You can always increase the driver stage bias to have additional current if required. Only need to change a few resistors.
So just get the IRFP250 and finish the assembly. Test it out and see if all's well. If everything sounds fine ( at high volume !) then leave things as they are !
someone indeed does have IRFP240 Hyderabad, https://www.eightaudio.in/collections/transistors-fets/products/irfp240-20a-200v-n-channel-mosfet

I use the TO-220 IRFxxx series on another project that has the main rails fixed at +-25V; however, I wouldn't recommend a TO-220 output for any amp rated for > 45W.
You didn't say what voltage rails you are running but assuming +-40-45V then the IRFP150 is sailing a little too close to the wind with Vds = 100V. I'd probably settle for the IRFP250 in your situation... try it and let us know how it performs 😉
Thank you Prasi for ref to Eight Audio in Hyderabad itself. Placing the order for 240.
A lot of good advice from other members which is a good learning experience in choosing critical parts. Thanks to M/s Ranchu, Ashok, Valeri, X and Dacz.
